With their new number 7 state ranking in tow, the Branson Pirates advanced to the Class 5 state quarterfinals with a narrow victory over unranked Willard.  The Tigers built up a 19-15 lead early in the second quarter, only to have the Pirates break out on a 19 to 7 run to take an eight point lead at 34-26 early in the third quarter. Willard wasn't done yet, though.  Kyle Raby pulled the Tigers within 39-38 with just over six minutes left in the game, and Branson had to answer the challenge by outscoring Willard 11-to-5 the rest of the way to earn a 50-43 victory.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A race is on against Mother Nature to save slices of history on Route 66. The State of Missouri is working to identify abandoned gas stations along "The Mother Road" before they rot away. One such station is adorned with rusted bars.  Hints of a past are on the windows, and concrete fins evoke another time.  It might strike you as past its prime, but that's not what comes to mind for dreamer and Route 66 fanatic Chris Powell. "I like the old stuff.  I think they're neat," said Powell.

JOPLIN, Mo. - Thanksgiving is a time of year when families gather and give thanks for many things in their lives. For one group volunteering in Joplin, giving tornado victims and their families a place to have to gather and have a hot meal is what the season is all about. "There is hope and we're a part of letting them see that hope, you know, that God is and will continue to restore and bring healing to this city," said Chris Newby, field coordinator with Action Missions. Action Missions, based out of Osceola, has been in Joplin for six months helping feed and clothe people who lost their homes.
