People were setting up their tents for the annual Arts Festival still scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday. Jacob Gaumer helps run the art gallery Canvas on South Avenue. "Well there have been two people that have come in today because the weather is just lovely," said Gaumer. Staying indoors might be the best way to enjoy the festivities.

August patterns showed a weak El Niño anomaly in the Pacific Ocean. The El Niño-Southern Oscillation scale indicates current conditions are at a 0.7 (weak El Niño) on a 3.0 point scale.   The report indicated  that “current conditions, trends, and model forecasts favor the continued development of a weak-to-moderate strength El Niño into the Northern Hemisphere fall 2009, with the likelihood of at least a moderate strength El Niño during the winter 2009-10”.
