The weather is going to be very quiet for the Ozarks over th enext week.  Clouds and rain are both going to be in short supply.  Several cool air masses will spill south from Canada keeping our temperatures below average.  The coldest of these air masses will arrive Sunday and Monday.  Lows during that stretch will drop into the upper 30s and low 40s.  I do not foresee any frost at this time so the flowers and gardens are safe.  High temperatures Sunday and Monday are expected in the lower 60s.  Slightly warmer weather returns Tuesday as a south wind develops.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- If you've got a little time off this week, some Christmas cash or gift cards, and want to save on your heating bills, it may be a good time to do some weatherization projects at home.  Most of us will agree heating costs can be a a little tough to take.  "It's high.  The electric's high.  We've got to be warm," says Teresa Perkins. She and her husband are picking up some insulation to keep the heating bill down.  "Before, it was like 150 to 200 dollars," Perkins says.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Winter's bitter grip -- hostile and unforgiving on a clear Monday night -- is the driving force behind some people's journeys from the Springfield streets to the Salvation Army's doors. "Keep from freezing to death," said Robert Offutt. When temperatures plunge to single digits, word spreads of this place and people pour in from the streets. "From Jefferson (Avenue)," said Jerry Johnson, indicating from where he walked to get to the Salvation Army's facility on Chestnut Expressway at Kansas Expressway.

TODAY 60s/70s Rain likely or becoming likely. TONIGHT 50s/60s Rain and storms gradually ending west-to-east. WEDNESDAY 70s Partly cloudy with a slight chance of a shower south. 12-hour forecast 24-hour forecast 7-Day Forecast Pollen Count Satellite & Radar Almanac Here's a loop of the tornado that hit Moore, from one of the terminal doppler radars near there.  Back in the Ozarks, rain is expanding and should continue to do so this afternoon and evening.  Severe weather seems unlikely given the cool temperatures, with perhaps a storm or two producing some small hail or wind.  Temperatures will be in the 60s and 70s.  A cold front will work through tonight, bringing and end to the rain and storms from west to east.  Some fog may form here or there, but the sun should return for most by Wednesday with highs mainly in the 70s.
