Bank of Billings management just received another architect's recommendation regarding the 102-year-old building. "The actual integrity of the building, as far as its stability, is no longer there," bank president, Matt Spillman said. "We have to do what we have to do. Hundreds of thousands to remodel for 30-years, we can't do that. " A tour of the facility shows the issues. Water damage, plaster peeling and wood warping. Thick wires keep the outer walls from falling over.

Several fire departments fought the fire. The Exeter Cafe was open when it started, but Exeter Fire Chief Jim Matthew didn't know if any customers were there at the time. The cafe is one of four side-by-side buildings, but the fire did not damage the other three buildings in the row. "There's some water damage to the apartment next door but, other than that, all the damage is just to the cafe," said volunteer firefighter Kirk Wynn.
