SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State (7-3) built its lead over visiting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to as many as 26 points in the second half and forced 18 turnovers here Monday in a 66-53 victory in the second round of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic. Using a lineup comprised primarily of reserves in the second half, the Bears added to a 41-19 intermission lead midway through the half. Corey Copeland and Christian Kirk accounted for 13 straight MSU points over a five-minute span.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Missouri State Lady Bears continue play in the Women's National Invitation Tournament Saturday at 7:05 p.m. against the Memphis Tigers in a second round matchup at JQH Arena. The Lady Bears (23-8) defeated UMKC 81-79 on Thursday, coming out on top of a wild game that featured 10 ties and 20 lead changes. Memphis, meanwhile, was in a dogfight of its own at home against Chattanooga, trailing much of the contest before winning 60-59. The Tigers are 25-7 and finished 13-3 in Conference USA. Missouri State is now 9-3 all-time in WNIT play and has played each game at home.

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Missouri State swimming & diving team sent freshman Garrett Nevels to Iowa City to conclude his first season with the Bears with some of Midwest's top divers at the NCAA Zone 'D' Diving Championships. Nevels, the lone qualifier for the Bears, was one of 31 male divers vying for a chance to compete at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships two weeks from now in Seattle, Wash. The group of 31 included athletes from Iowa, LSU, Minnesota, Mizzou, Saint Louis, SMU, South Dakota State, Texas, Texas A&M, Wisconsin-Green Bay and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Arkansas Razorbacks received a tough break heading into this weekend's Southwest Classic against the Texas A&M Aggies. Junior defensive end Tenarius Wright will miss the next month of the season after surgery on a broken bone in his arm. Wright injured it during the first quarter of Satuday's loss at Alabama. The Memphis native has recorded ten tackles through the first four games. On the other end, senior defensive end Jake Bequette is making progress as he recovers from a hamstring injury he suffered in week two. Petrino says he's encouraged Bequette will return to action Saturday.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Arkansas Razorbacks comeback victory over the Texas A&M Aggies Saturday caught the attention of the pollsters. The Hogs (4-1, 0-1) jumped eight spots in the Associated Press poll this week to No. 10. The coaches moved the Hogs up six spots to No. 12. Arkansas trailed Texas A&M 35-17 at half, before rallying to a 42-38 win. Razorbacks quarterback Tyler Wilson threw for a school-record 510 yards and three touchdowns. Wilson paired up with receiver Jarius Wright for 13 receptions for 281yards. Wright's set records for both catches and yards.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Missouri's first Southeastern Conference football schedule includes plenty of banner games. Mizzou's schedule in the SEC Eastern division starts off fast. East rival Georgia will travel to Columbia in the second week of the season. Georgia is the defending division champion. Two weeks later, the Tigers will travel on the road to play South Carolina, which won ten regular-season games in 2011. October includes three straight home games against Vanderbilt, Alabama, and Kentucky, In November, the Tigers will end the conference slate with road games against Florida, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. It will be the third consecutive season the Tigers have played the Aggies in College Station. Missouri won the last two games in Big 12 Conference play on the road. It appears Mizzou and Texas A&M will be common Eastern vs. Western division opponents.

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Will a closed-door meeting here change everything for Mizzou? The University of Missouri's Board of Curators plans to go into executive session on Thursday morning. It's likely the board will discuss athletic conference alignment. The school says in a news release that the executive session would deal with, among other things, lease, contract, personnel and confidential or privileged communications with university counsel....

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Cobi Hamilton lived up to his pre-season hype last Saturday. The Arkansas Razorbacks senior wide-receiver has been named as this week's Southeastern Conference's Co-Offensive Player of the Week after a record-breaking performance against Rutgers. Hamilton shared the honor with South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw. Hamilton set an SEC record with 303 yards receiving. He caught ten passes. Former LSU receiver Josh Reed set the previous mark in 2002 with 293 yards.
