Saturday's wild weather took its toll on a couple of Springfield businesses. Windows at Eternal Tattoo and Springfield Bicycle, on Campbell just South of Battlefield, were blown out during the pop up storm. One person inside the tattoo shop was hurt by the flying glass, he was taken to the hospital with a few cuts. Springfield Police say a couple of road signs and a traffic signal were also knocked off of their poles in that general area.

NEAR VIOLA, Ark. -- A possible tornado rolled through northern Arkansas, damaging several homes. The strong cell hit west of Viola in Fulton County shortly before 2:00 p.m.  We have received reports of damage to an apartment complex, several mobile homes, and several barns.  One person suffered minor injuries. The storm was part of a system of scattered thunderstorms along a cold front, leading to a tornado watch for much of northeast Arkansas.

The storms that ripped across Missouri Friday night caused some damage on Table Rock Lake. The high winds twisted three docks in Kimberling City.  This happended in a neighborhood along Bridgeview Drive.  People say it blew up fast leaving the scrap-pile of metal on the water. There were  also a number of trees knocked down. But there were no reports of anyone being injured in the storm.

OZARK, Mo. -- Many people in the Ozarks were still digging out from the snowstorm on Thursday.  Sometimes, however, a shovel was not enough.   Dozens of abandoned cars litter the roads of the Ozarks, keeping tow trucks and their operators busy and lightening unlucky drivers’ wallets.  If you're one of them, truck operators say they're moving as fast as they can.   If Brian Beeman wasn’t on the phone, he was behind the wheel on Thursday, headed to his next post-storm pick-up.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo --  Intense storms barrel through the Ozarks, taking down trees, signs and power. The relief comes after weeks of scorching heat and dry conditions. The storm knocked down one of the KYTV dishes from a tower.  A tree fell at the intersection of Broadway and Walnut in Springfield. Crews were out assessing the problem.  The tree fell on a phone line.  Neighbors say a portion of the tree was on fire. Meantime another tree blocked a busy intersection just west of National and Sunshine.

TODAY 80s Increasing clouds; a few PM storms possible. TONIGHT Near 60° A few storms. THURSDAY 70s Scattered showers and storms. 12-hour forecast 24-hour forecast 7-Day Forecast Pollen Count Satellite & Radar Almanac Good morning!  Our atmosphere is dry and we are fairly cloud free early this morning with temperatures in the sixties.  The forecast today centers around an area of low pressure in the upper atmosphere over Central Texas.  This will approach the Ozarks late this afternoon into Thursday.  As moisture begins to increase cloud cover will begin bubbling by early afternoon and level off the temperature rise.  A few thunderstorms will be possible by midafternoon but it generally across western Missouri and Arkansas.  Due to a lack of wind shear I do not expect severe weather.  The upper low will essentially be overhead tonight and at least early Thursday.  This will lead to a continued chance for showers and a few storms.  Not everyone will get rain, but those who do will likely be several degrees cooler tomorrow than they are today.  A few storms may linger into Friday, but the weekend looks dry and warm.  A few storms may try to move into western Missouri by late Sunday, but most of us will see rain-free conditions and temperatures...

POLK COUNTY, Mo -- A concerned citizen's complaint to a state agency about a livestock packing plant in Halfway, Missouri, has led to some disturbing findings. The Halfway Packing Company is no longer in business, but before its doors closed the state found some serious problems with how business was conducted.    And it's unclear what, if anything, has been done to improve the conditions. In 2012, the Department of Natural Resources inspected the operation, which renders the bone and meat of dead livestock to produce bone meal and oil.      The inspectors found dead animals and animal parts had been exposed to storm-water.

Storm Shelters save lives, but many people don't have them because they are simply too expensive. After witnessing the damage from the Joplin tornado, Russel Gehrke made it his mission to provide storm shelters to Joplin tornado survivors that can't afford one on their own. Gehrke said, “I noticed the playground at burger king was still standing and that was kind of like…huh.   And then I noticed another playground standing at the Catholic church. It got me thinking that the plastic used in the playgrounds that withstood the tornado, we could make a concrete form out of recycled plastics and build storm shelters that are more cost effective.” Testing storm shelters in an expensive endeavor.  The typical test costs about $3,500.  So, in order to cut down on those costs to test his new materials, Russel invented "The Shredder".  "The Shredder" is a glorified pitching machine that is powered by a motorcycle and can throw pipes and 2x4s at about 200 ft/sec.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The F-3 tornado that tore through the Queen City ON April 29, 1983, killed one person, injured more than a dozen others, and left a lasting impression on thousands of Ozarkers.  It's been three decades since then, but those who survived the storm say their memories of that day are still vivid, making the tragedy seem much more recent. "I was at the bowling alley, Sunshine lanes.  I remember going toward the doors, because we were getting ready to leave, and the sirens were going off, so everybody headed to the basement," said Ashley Mooneyham.

TONIGHT Mid 60s Strong storms this evening and again Thursday morning Tornado Watch until 10pm THURSDAY Mid 40s Periods of moderate to heavy rain strong northwest winds and falling temperatures FRIDAY Low 50s Becoming Partly Cloudy and turning much colder grab the jacket on the way out the door. 12-hour forecast 24-hour forecast Satellite & Radar Wind Chill Allergy Index Almanac Tornado Watch Until 10pm     A very unstable air mass exists over the Ozarks this afternoon.  The only thing lacking is some sort of trigger mechanism.  A few thunderstorms tried to fire earlier today but had a tough time getting going.  I things will be mostly quiet until 9pm then things should begin to get interesting along the western border.  A squall line will move in after midnight and this too could produce severe weather.  Even though the storms will move through the region early in the day all modes of severe weather will still be possible including large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes.
