SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A car hit a little girl in the 2200 block of North Taylor Avenue, just south of Robberson Elementary School, on Wednesday afternoon. Police say the child was four or five years old and went to St. John's hospital with serious injuries. Police say the child apparently ran from around a parked car, and the driver was not able to stop in time.

U.S. Marshals catch a man accused of holding 3 people hostage earlier this month. Christopher Fragoso was arrested Wednesday at a Springfield convenience store on a warrant of 3 counts of kidnapping. Police say Fragoso held two women and a man at gunpoint in a home on south Brekleyn Avenue. They weren't hurt. Another man was arrested earlier for the kidnapping.

SWEDEN, Mo. -- A man from Springfield died in an ATV accident on Saturday. A Missouri State Highway Patrol report says Landen Johnson was driving on a private road off Douglas County Road 321, three miles west of Sweden (about 10 miles southeast of Ava), when his ATV ran off the road, hit an embankment, and overturned. Johnson died at the scene. He was 26 years old.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- City police are investigating a shooting at 1408 N. Forest Ave. They say a woman shot another woman in a leg early Wednesday afternoon. Investigators at the scene said they didn't know if they would recommend charges be filed. They were trying to sort out what happened but said the dispute might involve a "love triangle. " No other information was available on Wednesday afternoon.

TULSA, Ok. -- The Springfield Cardinals have lost two in-a-row now to the Tulsa Drillers. Wednesday final was 6-5 as the Cardinal bats came to life in the later innings. Adam Melker 2-for-4 and 2 RBI thanks to his sixth homer of the year. Same two teams wrap-up their four-game set Thursday.

SPRINGFIELD -- An overnight house fire in Springfield is being called suspicious. Firefighters were called to a home in the 1300 block of west Chase Street around one Saturday morning. When crews arrived on the scene, the home was fully engulfed in flames including the porch and yard. The house, a rental property, was sitting vacant and the utilities were turned off. Fire officials say the house is a total loss; the cause is still under investigation.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A home just north of Springfield is a total loss after a fire early Monday at an exotic animal ranch. Fire crews say it started around 3:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of Valley Water Mill Road. The house was fully engulfed in flames by the time they arrived. One person was living in the home. She wasn't hurt in the fire. Firefighters say the cause was accidental, but they may never know what exactly sparked the fire...

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- An auto shop in Springfield was damaged by fire Wednesday. Fire crews spent more than an hour putting out flames at Farr's Westside Automotive on West College. Emergency officials at the scene say the fire started in a dumpster behind the shop then spread to part of the garage. A neighbor saw the smoke and called 911. There was no one inside the business at the time of the fire, and the cause is under investigation. The fire is out as of 9 p.m. Wednesday.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.-- Local producers are hosting a gardening expo on Saturday in Springfield. Producers will be at the Howard Johnson Conference Center, located at 3333 South Glenstone, next to Friendly Ford. They will offer advice on gardening, and answer any questions you may have. The event runs from 8:00 until 3:00 Saturday afternoon. Tickets are five dollars, but you can get in for free if you bring three canned food items.
