Welcome aboard for another trip around Pulaski County with the deputies of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office. Once again I shall be your driver today and I hope you enjoy the news. Having said that I must also confess to a lack of planned material for today and I may have to wing this column. That of course is a scary thought. I usually get into trouble when I take shots on the wing. Our calls for service/case number count this morning (8:55am on Oct. 30, 2010) stands at 9,409 and the inmate roster stands at 57. One of those numbers is good, the inmate count a month or so ago was 94 so we have had a very nice reduction in the jail.

Welcome aboard for another column. Where do I start for today? How about with our case number/calls for service count which stands at 3,016 as of noon on Saturday the 9th. It does not appear that my requested recession for calls is going to happen this year. So we shall continue to swing the axe and the chips shall continue to fly. This past week we made several burglary cases and I have already sent out news releases on those cases and the persons who were charged. Speaking of calls the current construction project on I-44 has turned out so far to be mild.

Welcome aboard one more time as we slosh about Pulaski County in the heavy mud instead of the ice and snow. Goodbye white stuff and welcome red mud. Please remember that you cannot win with Missouri weather you just get ready for the next trial to come. But the mud does beat the snow and ice. The fifty and sixty degree temps are also just fine. I will begin this week’s column with a hard decision that I recently had to make for the department. As you will recall in this year’s budget we were given the funds to hire back two of the lost deputy positions from the past few years.
