ROGERSVILLE, Mo -- Each year, more than 15,000 kids are diagnosed with diabetes in the United States. It's a disease that affects the whole family, especially when a child is diagnosed. There is a special summer camp in the Ozarks that is helping kids manage their disease and have a little fun at the same time. It's called Camp Earthworks and the camp in Rogersville has plenty of running, jumping, screaming, and laughter. While fun is a big part of the equation, education is too. "We do things like rock climbing, canoeing, archery," said American Diabetes Association Associate Manager Rachel Drake.

MARSHFIELD, Mo. -- Webster County Sheriff Roye Cole says a murder suspect who's been on the lam for more than two months was arrested in the Phoenix, Ariz., area.   Dewayne Layton of Rogersville is one of three people who were charged in February for the death of Billy Harris of Springfield. Harris disappeared on Jan. 15.   Investigators think Layton, 43, shot Harris at a home at 94 Corner Road, south of Rogersville because of a disagreement over a vehicle. Investigators think Alfred Clevenger, 47, and Kevin Layton, 40, who lived at the home with Dewayne Layton, were all present during the murder and then hid the body in a wooded area north of Rogersville.  Clevenger and Kevin Layton told detectives that Dwayne Layton left Missouri a couple of weeks after the murder, possibly headed for California.

ROGERSVILLE, Mo -- The City of Rogersville is thinking outside the box to try to attract home construction. Aldermen unanimously voted Monday to temporarily reduce impact fees on new homes built in the area. The fees will be reduced by 75% in Rogersville. That includes CID districts. Aldermen also decided to eliminate an $800 fee in another special district in the area. The reduction will last until August 31, 2012. In the last year, only a handful of new homes have popped up.  With numerous open lots in area subdivisions, city officials hope a discount for building new homes will help start a new housing boom.
