MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark -- Someone in Mountain Home, Arkansas, could be holding a lottery ticket worth $100,000.      State lottery officials said the ticket is part of the new "Natural State Jackpot Game. " The winner bought it at Tobacco Station in Mountain Home for Thursday night's drawing.      Meantime, Missouri's newest millionaire bought a Powerball ticket in St. Louis and forgot about it.  She recently checked old tickets stacked next to her computer and is claiming the one million dollar prize.

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark., --  A complaint to the Mountain Home Police Department last week led officers to gruesome discovery-- a dead dog in a washing machine.       Police found the Chihuahua inside an apartment; many of the renter's belongings had also been destroyed.      A woman, who was not home at the time of the incident, told officers she was concerned about her ex-boyfriend being in her apartment and destroying her stuff.      The suspect was found on the property.

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. - Trey Killian has "Called the Hogs. " The Mountain Home High School ace on the mound inked a letter of intent with the Arkansas Razorbacks Class of 2012.  He is one of six high school players to sign with the Hogs in the early signing period. "We feel that Trey is the top right-handed pitcher in the state of Arkansas," said Arkansas Head Coach Dave Van Horn.  "He can come in and make a major impact as a freshman. "  Killian is rated as a top 100 high school prospect by several Major League Baseballl Draft scouting services.  His fastball ranged between 90-94 miles per hour.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- A woman from North Little Rock sued the Roman Catholic Diocese of Little Rock because she says she was seduced into a sexual affair by a "predatory" priest who served a church in Mountain Home.  The lawsuit says her relationship with the Rev. Charles Kanu turned sexual in 2009, after she started counseling sessions several months earlier.  The unidentified woman says she eventually became depressed and her 13-year-old son...

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. -- A man from Mountain Home is in trouble after investigators say he sold prescription drugs.  Jason Biddle was arrested on Wednesday after investigators from several agencies were able to buy pills during a two-month period.  At least one buy took place near a church.  Biddle is jailed in lieu of a $50,000 bond.

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. -- A man from Mountain Home is in the Baxter County jail after he was arrested for allegedly breaking into the home of a victim in a deadly motorcycle accident. Authorities took Eric Guynes, 35, into custody after the family of the victim discovered items to be missing from his home.  Guynes is charged with burglary and property theft.

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. -- The Baxter County Sheriff's Department released the cause of death on Wednesday for a man whose body was found in a car trunk near Mountain Home. Christina Scroggin, 25, is charged with first-degree murder for the death of Raul Turrieta, 24.  Investigators say Scroggin drove her car to a home near Mountain Home on Tuesday morning and told the homeowner that she thought she'd killed someone.  The homeowner called police, who later found Turrieta's body in the trunk of the car. The Baxter County Sheriff's Department and the Arkansas State Medical Examiner say Turrieta was shot three times in the head and chest.  Investigators also found a .38 caliber handgun inside Scroggin's car.  Ballistic tests are being done to determine if it was the gun used in the killing.

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. -- For all of us, the horrific images of the terrorists' attacks on 9/11 that we saw on television are forever implanted on our minds.  For Frank Zortman, these are the images that he saw in person. "You could see all the chaos going down below, the fires that were happening and stuff like that," said Zortman. "And so I had just turned around and was walking away from the glass window when all of a sudden I heard the roaring jet of the second plane, which went right over the top of our building and then smacked into the South Tower.

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. -- A man from Mountain Home is in the Baxter County Jail, charged with a burglary at Thee Salesville Bible Church.  Steven Vantine is accused of breaking into the church on December 21st  and taking a tv, guitar and guitar case.  He was arrested after the sheriff says he tried to sell the guitar at a pawn shop.

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. -- Police in several Ozarks communities are seeing an uptick in the number of domestic abuse cases.  In Mountain Home, the population of the domestic abuse shelter doubled in recent weeks. It was just last week that a lady from Baxter County lost her life in a domestic dispute, and during this time of year, when it's cold outside, and around the holidays, there's always an increase in the number of cases. At the shelter in downtown, they can house up to 17 women -- and are often full around this time of year.

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. -- The State Medical Examiner's Office will try to determine the cause of death of a 73-year-old man whose wife found his body at a fire pit on their property on Jeri Lane outside Mountain Home.  William Larsen's wife called the Baxter County Sheriff's Department about 7:40 p.m. Sunday after she found the body.  Investigators believe no one else was around when Larsen died.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Two employees of KY3 Inc., who are in Boston for the marathon are not injured after two explosions at the finish line.  KY3 News reporter/anchor Paul Adler is there with his wife, Melissa, who ran the race.   KSPR reporter Joanna Small, who ran the race, is there with her husband, Mark. Melissa Adler was receiving her medal for finishing the race when the explosions occurred.  Paul Adler was not with her at the time, but they are now together and were trying to make their way out of the area about 2:30 (Central time)

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. -- Baxter County sheriff's detectives are investigating a homicide after deputies found the body of a man in a vehicle at 244 CR 343 on Tuesday morning. The body belonged to Raul Turrieta, 24, who lived in Mountain Home. A 911 call was received from 244 CR 343 at approximately 5:50 a.m. reporting that a woman had driven to that home and said she may have killed someone.  Upon arrival, deputies found the body in the trunk of the vehicle. The body was sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner's Office in Little Rock for autopsy to determine the cause of Turrieta's death.  T he location or locations of the original crime scene and the circumstances surrounding the death are still under investigation.

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ar. -- The murder trial of Gary Wayne Parks came to an abrupt - and surprising - end today in Baxter County. Today, Parks accepted a plea agreement from prosecutors, in which he pleaded "no contest" to first-degree murder in the death of Parks' step-father, Dr. David Millstein.  Millstein was found stabbed to death in his home near Mountain Home in 2006.  Parks wasn't arrested until 2009, when he was found living in Memphis, TN....

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark.-- The trial begins this week for the man accused of killing his step-father. It happened more than six-years ago. Gary Wayne Parks will stand trial starting Monday for the murder of Dr. David Millstein. That trial was supposed to begin in January, but the defense was granted an extension after a new witness was presented. Millstein was found stabbed to death in his home near twin lakes golf course in 2006. Police say Parks moved to Memphis after Millstein's death.

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. - Arkansas State Police say a woman who crashed a van down an embankment early Friday morning may have been drinking -- and that she wasn't located for hours. Authorities say Anna M. Hale was driving south on Arkansas State Route 5 near the Guy King clay pit when she failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and drove down an embankment. She hit several trees on the way, hitting her front bumper. State troopers say Hale told them she had crashed sometime after midnight and was not found until 7:05 a.m. Troopers are also recommending charges of careless driving, driving while intoxicated, not wearing a seatbelt and not carrying proof of insurance.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Freshman right-handed pitcher Trey Killian has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, as announced on Monday by the league office. A native of Mountain Home, Ark., Killian is the second Razorback to earn SEC Freshman of the Week honors this season. Freshman left-handed pitcher Colin Poche was also named SEC Freshman of the Week earlier in the year. Killian was dominant in his start in Arkansas' 8-2 win over San Diego State last Saturday, throwing seven no-hit innings and striking out seven to earn his second win of the season.
