SHREVEPORT, La. - From one Tigers to another. Louisiana State University welcomed the University of Missouri to the Southeastern Conference with a full-page advertisement in the Shreveport Times.  The ad asks the Shreveport area to "get out and support the newest conference member. " Mizzou will play North Carolina next week in the Advocare Independence Bowl.  The Missouri Tigers will become an official member of the SEC in July. COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou's basketball roster for the 2010-2011 season will look different than Tigers fans expected. Sophomore guard Miguel Paul and freshman forward Tyler Stone will transfer from the program, just days before the spring signing period. Paul averaged 3.2 points and 1.6 assists in 69 games in his two-year career. Stone played in 11 games, averaging 2 points and 0.8 rebounds.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou sent an early message to the rest Big 12 Conference. Kim English scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the No. 7 Missouri Tigers (14-0, 1-0) to a 87-49 win over the Oklahoma Sooners (10-3, 0-1).  Senior guard Marcus Denmon added 20 points.  Mizzou raced out to a 43-25 halftime lead.  The Tigers shot 59 percent from the field.  Oklahoma shot only 33 percent from the field. Missouri's undefeated start is the best since the 1981-1982 season.  The Tigers will play No. 23 Kansas State in Manhattan Saturday.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou student-athletes are getting it done in the classroom. The University of Missouri leads the Big 12 in five sports in the NCAA's annual Academic Progress Rates or APR.  APR measures academic progress and performance of athletic programs.  The score is counted over four academic years. Mizzou football ranks second in both the Big 12 and the Southeastern Conference.   It scored a 972 out of a 1,000 point scale.  Women's gymnastics and women's golf scored a perfect score.  The school has ranked either first or second since the NCAA developed the scoring scale in 2004.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - It's official. Sunday, the University of Missouri became the newest member of the Southeastern Conference.  Mizzou joins fellow Big 12 Conference school Texas A&M as the thirteenth and fourteenth members of the league. Missouri has capitalized on the move announced last fall.  Mizzou reports a jump in season tickets for the upcoming football by selling SEC packages.  The school has also marketed its brand throughout the south with billboards, an area rarely focused on by the school in the past.  The university's board of curators last week announced a $102 million facilities renovation upgrade.  It includes adding an additional 6,000 seats to Memorial Stadium.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Already off to a fast start, the Missouri Tigers have added another top prospect to its football commitment list. Rivals.com reports Maty Mauk of Kenton, Ohio committed to Mizzou Thursday morning.  The 6'2", 185 pound signal-caller threw for 5,670 yards and 69 touchdowns as a junior.  He added nearly a 1,00 yards on the ground too while running the spread offense.  Mauk has thrown for nearly 14,000 yards and rushed for another...

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Add more fuel to the Mizzou vs. Kansas football, despite the likely end to the series. Kansas Head Coach Charlie Weis, has hired former Missouri Tigers safety DeMontie Cross, to coach the Jayhawks' linebackers.  Cross spent last season coaching the Wisconsin Badgers special teams.  He also spent time in the NFL on the coaching staff of the Buffalo Bills. The Hazelwood East High School graduate was second team all-Big 12 Concerence as a safety in 1996.  Cross led the Tigers in tackles in his junior and senior seasons.  Two years later, he coached Mizzou's linebackers.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - How low would they go?  The Missouri Tigers (7-1, 3-1) dropped several spots in the three major polls after their 31-17 loss at Nebraska Saturday.  Nebraska leapfrogged them in each. Mizzou fell six spots to number 12 in the Bowl Championship poll.  That poll determines the National Championship game.  Alabama, Nebraska, and Oklahoma are all one-loss teams ranked higher than the Tigers. Mizzou fell to number 14 in the Coaches Poll.  The Associated Press poll ranks Missouri at the same spot.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri will look to sweep its future fellow Southeastern Conference rival Texas A&M Saturday. The No. 3 Tigers (24-2, 11-2) will play the Aggies (13-12. 4-9) in College Station.  Mizzou beat Texas A&M 70-51 in Columbia to start Big 12 Conference play.  Tip-off is at 1:00 p.m. on ESPN. News and Notes: *Saturday Streak: Mizzou has not won in College Station since the 2001 season.  Mizzou broke an eight-game losing streak earlier this season.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Mizzou forced a turnover when it needed it to seal a victory. James Franklin threw for 257 yards and a touchdown to lead the Missouri Tigers (3-2, 0-2) to a 21-16 victory Saturday against the Central Florida Knights (2-2).  The win is the fifth straight victory for Mizzou following a loss. Missouri's scoring started in the second-quarter when Franklin found freshman receiver Dorial Green-Beckham for a 80-yard touchdown pass.  It was Green-Beckham's first career touchdown reception.  However, the Tigers trailed 10-7 at halftime.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - On the road again. The Missouri Tigers (2-2, 0-2) will return to action Saturday in Orlando against the Central Florida Knights (2-1).  Kickoff is at 11:00 a.m. on Fox Sports Network. Missouri has already played the country's toughest schedule, including losses to top ten ranked schools Georgia and South Carolina.  This is Missouri's first meeting with Central Florida. COLUMBIA, Mo. - The "Battle of the Columbias" was a one-sided battle. Quarterback Connor Shaw completed 20-straight passes, throwing for two touchdowns to lead the South Carolina Gamecocks (4-0, 2-0) to a 31-10 victory Saturday over the Missouri Tigers (2-2, 0-2). Shaw finished 20-21 for 249-yards. "South Carolina is a really good football team and I think we have to give them a lot of credit," said Missouri Head Coach Gary Pinkel.  "That was a pretty dominating performance so we will learn from it and get better.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Southeastern Conference named Missouri Tigers senior cornerback Kenronte Walker its Defensive Player of the Week. Walker's late heroics helped save the day against Arizona State.  Walker deflected a go-head touchdown pass with 3:36 to go.  Then on Arizona State's final drive, Walker intercepted a pass in the end zone with 1:58 to go to see the victory.  The Fayetteville, North Carolina native added two tackles. Walker joined punt returner Marcus Murphy as SEC weekly honor recipients this season.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou survived a second-straight fourth-quarter collapse. Corbin Berkstresser rushed for a score touchdown in his first start as the Missouri Tigers (2-1, 0-1) 24-20 victory Saturday night against the Arizona State Sun Devils in Columbia.  Berkstresser replaced James Franklin, who missed the game because of a sore shoulder. "We were very conservative and at the end we were conservative," said Missouri Head Coach Gary Pinkel.  "We felt we were going to have to win with our defense, and that's why we made decisions from that standpoint.  There were a lot of different things out there.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou hopes to get a bad taste out of its mouth from last week and last season. The Missouri Tigers will welcome Pac-12 Conference's Arizona State Sun Devils to Columbia Saturday night.  Arizona State defeated Missouri in a wild showdown in the desert last season 37-30 in overtime. "Arizona State is a really good football team," said Missouri Head Coach Gary Pinkel.  "It's a new coaching staff and it's a whole new attitude there and generally if you get a couple wins under your belt, there's a whole new confidence level that goes with that too. " Missouri must also forget last week's fourth-quarter collapse.  The No. 7 Georgia Bulldogs outscored Mizzou 17-0 in the final quarter, blowing open what was a close game in the 41-20 rout.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - A new era of Mizzou football opens on the losing end. Aaron Murray threw for 242  yards and three touchdowns to lead the No. 7 Georgia Bulldogs (2-0, 1-0) to a 41-20 victory Saturday against the Missouri Tigers (1-1, 0-1).  71,004 witnessed history, the first Southeastern Conference game in Mizzou history. "I give them a lot of credit. You can't make mistakes, the kind of mistakes we made in the game like that, and survive," said Missouri Tigers Head Coach Gary Pinkel.  "You're not going to win games like that against people like that if you make some of the mistakes we made.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Finally! After months of anticipation, the Missouri Tigers will begin Southeastern Conference play at home Saturday against the No. 7 Georgia Bulldogs.  It marks the beginning of a new era of Mizzou football.  However, the players and coaches say they are ready to compete against college football's best. "It's the first SEC game, first SEC home game, so I think that it is going to go down in history," said Missouri Tigers Head Coach Gary Pinkel.  "We are not playing this average team from the SEC.  We understand that we are playing a great football team, a well-coached football team, so I think a combination of all obviously makes it very, very big. " Mizzou is ready to make a statement in its new conference.  The Tigers know to earn respect, they must prove it on the field.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Mizzou's special teams made a splash in the school's first game as a member of the Southeastern Conference. COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri made its Southeastern Conference debut with a dominating season-opening performance.
