COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou hopes to get a bad taste out of its mouth from last week and last season. The Missouri Tigers will welcome Pac-12 Conference's Arizona State Sun Devils to Columbia Saturday night. Arizona State defeated Missouri in a wild showdown in the desert last season 37-30 in overtime. "Arizona State is a really good football team," said Missouri Head Coach Gary Pinkel. "It's a new coaching staff and it's a whole new attitude there and generally if you get a couple wins under your belt, there's a whole new confidence level that goes with that too. " Missouri must also forget last week's fourth-quarter collapse. The No. 7 Georgia Bulldogs outscored Mizzou 17-0 in the final quarter, blowing open what was a close game in the 41-20 rout.

"You're not going to win games like that against people like that if you make some of the mistakes we made.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Finally! After months of anticipation, the Missouri Tigers will begin Southeastern Conference play at home Saturday against the No. 7 Georgia Bulldogs. It marks the beginning of a new era of Mizzou football. However, the players and coaches say they are ready to compete against college football's best. "It's the first SEC game, first SEC home game, so I think that it is going to go down in history," said Missouri Tigers Head Coach Gary Pinkel. "We are not playing this average team from the SEC. We understand that we are playing a great football team, a well-coached football team, so I think a combination of all obviously makes it very, very big. " Mizzou is ready to make a statement in its new conference. The Tigers know to earn respect, they must prove it on the field.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The wait is finally over for Missouri Tigers fans. Mizzou opens its inaugural Southeastern Conference football season season Saturday at Faurot Field against Southeast Louisiana. Kickoff is at 6:00 p.m. "Quite frankly, we have to get better each and every week," said Head Coach Gary Pinkel. "Going into this season we understand the people we are playing and we have to play well and it is my job to get that done. " Missouri enters the 2012 season with plenty of expectations, but also a few question marks. Junior quarterback James Franklin shined in 2011. However, he missed all of spring practice with a shoulder injury. That shoulder has been the talk of preseason drills following Franklin's play in his first season as a starter. He finished the year throwing for 2,865 yards and 21 touchdowns. The dual-threat quarterback rushed for another 981 yards and 15 touchdowns. Franklin says he's ready to go, despite surgery just a few months ago. Missouri has plenty of weapons for Franklin in 2012. Senior receiver T.J. Moe returns as Mizzou's go-to receiver. Moe should benefit from the play of freshman receiver Dorial Green Beckham. The Springfield Hillcrest High School star has impressed coaches so far with not only his ability, but how he competes.

JOPLIN, Mo -- It's been more than a year since a tornado devastated the community of Joplin. It left many without a home. Some residents still don't have a home. Habitat for Humanity is trying to change that, and they are getting a little help from theSt. Louis Cardinals. It's a new house and a new beginning for Sharon Brumley and her family. "This is ours forever. You don't have to move no more. Isn't that exciting?" Brumley said to her daughter. The Brumley's added a new member just days before the Joplin tornado hit. "We had lost my sister prior to that so I'm raising my nephew as well as my two children," she said.

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - Overseas exhibition games have been known to get chippy and after seeing a couple of elbows fly, words exchanged and a surprising ejection, Mizzou Head Coach Frank Haith had seen enough. The second year head coach at Missouri had just been ejected from the game for questioning a non-call on an elbow to the head of freshman forward Stefan Jankovic and pulled his team from the floor midway through the third quarter. "In my mind I was just fearful for the safety of our players, but in retrospect I wish I had let our team play it out and learn from the adversity," Haith said.
