NEW YORK -- Missouri Tigers linebacker Zaviar Gooden will stay in Southeastern Conference country. The Tennessee Titans chose the outside linebacker with the final pick (97th) of the third-round in the NFL Draft. Gooden shined at the combine, running a 4.47 in the 40-yard draft. That was the fastest time of any linebacker. The Texas native was a three-year starter at Mizzou. He joins defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson as the Tigers drafted in the first three rounds.

NEW YORK -- Mizzou's Sheldon Richardson heard his name called early in the 2013 NFL Draft. The New York Jets selected the big 6' 2", 290 pound defensive lineman No. 13. Richardson shined in his debut season in the Southeastern Conference. He earned second-team all-SEC honors last season. He recorded 75 tackles, including 10.5 tackles for a loss and 4.5 sacks. FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The Missouri kid would not let Arkansas lose. BJ Young scored Arkansas' final seven points in the last :29 seconds to lead the Razorbacks (16-9, 7-5) to a 73-71 comeback victory over the Missouri Tigers (18-7, 7-5). Players for both schools shook their heads after the wild ending. "For a minute it looked bleak," said Young. "We kept fighting. It was one of the craziest games I've played. " Missouri led 70-66 with :34 seconds left, following two free throws by senior Keion Bell. Then, Young took over the game. The sophomore from St. Louis scored seven straight points, including two three-point plays on back-to-back possessions for the Razorbacks. He added a free throw for the final difference. Young finished the game with 18 points.

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Freshmen Stefan Jankovic and Negus Webster-Chan combined for 34 points and 12 rebounds as the former high school teammates led Missouri Basketball to an 86-60 victory over Missouri Southern to close out exhibition play on Sunday. Jankovic came off the bench and flourished on the perimeter, hitting 8-of-13 shots, including three from outside the three-point stripe to pace the Tigers with 20 points. His former high school point guard, Webster-Chan, earned his first start as a Tiger and scored 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting to go with seven rebounds and three assists.

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The new look Missouri Tigers had a dominate showing to open their 2012-2013 schedule thanks to a 91-58 win over Northwest Missouri State. The Tigers were led by Auburn transfer Earnest Ross who netted 22-points against the Division II school from Maryville. SEC preseason player of the year, Phil Pressey, impressed with 11 assists on the night; often tallying them with flare. The Tigers opened the game with a 27-3 lead and shot 62-percent from the floor.

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Mizzou celebrated homecoming with its first Southeastern Conference win. Kendial Lawrence rushed scored two touchdowns and rushed for 108 yards to lead the Missouri Tigers (4-4, 1-4) to a 33-10 victory over the Kentucky Wildcats (1-8, 0-6) Saturday in Columbia. Mizzou scored touchdowns following three Kentucky fumbles. Missouri's Corbin Berkstresser struggled in his second-straight start of the season. The redshirt-freshman finished 10-of-18 for 71 yards and two interceptions. Injured starting quarterback James Franklin came off the bench, finishing 6-of-9 for 16 yards. Franklin missed the start against Vanderbilt two weeks ago. Missouri's defense played big throughout the game. The biggest play happened on the first drive of the game. In the red-zone, defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson stripped Johathan George, then scooped up the ball. He returned the fumble for 60 yards. Mizzou added a Lawrence rushing touchdown and a field goal to go up 17-10 at halftime.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri has a graduation success rate (GSR) of 84% for all sports, as announced today by the NCAA, up from 81% a year ago. That rate ranks Mizzou third in the Southeastern Conference, behind only Vanderbilt (1 st - 91%) and Alabama (2 nd - 85%). Missouri led the SEC in five different sports, including men's golf (100%), women's golf (100%), women's swimming & diving (100%), tennis (100%), and wrestling (67%). Mizzou's football team had a 73% rate, while the men's basketball team came in at 67%, both of which ranked as fifth-best in the SEC. This is the sixth consecutive year that MU's overall GSR rate has increased, and it also marks the third straight year in which Mizzou had at least four programs with a perfect GSR. “We are very pleased with our numbers in the latest report,” said Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services Dr. Joe Scogin. “We take great pride in the academic experience we provide to our student-athletes at Mizzou. They are expected to perform at a very high level in the classroom, just as they are in their sport, and the numbers show that they are doing exactly that,” he said.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - New conference, same expectations. The media covering the Southeastern Conference chose the Missouri Tigers to finish third in its preseason college basketball poll. The Tigers follow Kentucky and Florida. Missouri received one first-place vote. The media also chose Mizzou junior guard Phil Pressey as its preseason Player of the Year. COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Mizzou has yet to finish its first season as a member of the Southeastern Conference , but it already knows next season's football schedule. The Missouri Tigers will play host to SEC powers Florida , South Carolina , Tennessee, and former Big 12 rival Texas A&M. Mizzou will travel to Vanderbilt , Georgia , Kentucky , and Ole Miss . The schedule will include two Saturdays on which the Tigers don't play. The schedule does not include border rival Arkansas . The two schools discussed the possibility of becoming permanent rivals. In a news release, the university said, "The 2013 schedule is considered a 'bridge' schedule and not based on any other previous or future scheduling formats. The SEC Athletics Directors will convene in Spring 2013 to begin formulating schedules for the 2014 season and beyond.
