SPRINGFIELD -- Sure St. Louis Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock would rather have been in Minnesota Thursday night with his troops playing the Wild. Thanks to the NHL lockout, that was not an option. So "Hitch", Blues color analyst Darren Pang and NHL Hall of Famer Al MacInnis did the next best thing; visited with fans. A Blues caravan-of-sorts rolled into Springfield late Thursday for an autograph session at the Mediacom Ice Park. During the visit, Hitchcock also guest-coached the Missouri State Ice Bears practice.

A march in Springfield Monday morning to honor the civil rights leader. They walked from the Mediacom Ice Park on East Trafficway across the MLK Bridge near downtown and ended at the Clara Thompson Hall across from Central High School. It was one of the largest turnouts in recent years. One man we talked with grew up in Springfield and participated in the walk for the first time because his long time employer is now allowing workers to take the day off. "When I was growing up, not much opportunity for minorities, now, it's a blessed feeling," Springfield resident Michael Adams said.
