COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri Tigers senior guard Marcus Denmon has been named a finalist for the John Wooden Award. Denmon leads Mizzou in scoring, averaging nearly 18 points per game.  He is also grabs five-and-a-half rebounds per game and dishes out nearly three assists per game.  Denmon has been a catalyst for No. 5 Mizzou's best start since the 1981-1982 season. The Kansas City native is one of three Big 12 Conference players on the list of 25 college basketball stars.  

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Marcus Denmon had one of the most memorable minute of play in Mizzou basketball history. COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou has found some early season balance. Senior guard Marcus Denmon led five No. 24 Missouri Tigers (3-0) in double-figures with 22 points in an 83-52 beating of Niagara (1-1) in a CBE Classic match-up.  Mizzou shot better than 50-percent from behind the three-point line for the second-straight game. Senior Kim English added 14 points.  Ricardo Ratliffe, Matt Pressey and Michael Dixon each poured in 12 points. COLUMBIA, Mo. -- University of Missouri Tigers guard Marcus Denmon heated up the Mizzou Arena on a cold night.  The junior guard matched his career high with 27 points to lead the 15th-ranked Tigers (15-2, 1-1) to a Big 12 77-69 victory against the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers (13-2, 1-1).  Mizzou bounced back from a road loss at Colorado on Saturday. Denmon's night started fast.  The Lee's Summit native scored 11 of the Tigers' first 13 points to open the game.  Denmon then sparked a 9-0 run at the beginning of the second half to extend a 3-point lead to double digits.

Ames, Iowa - Finally something to celebrate on the road. Marcus Denmon scored 25 points to lead the Missouri Tigers to a 76-70 road victory against the Iowa State Cyclones.  The win is Mizzou's first on the road in the Big 12 season.  It's the Cyclones ninth straight loss. The "Fastest 40 Minutes" got off to another fast start.  The Tigers built a double-digit lead in the first half.  Iowa State cut the lead to 35-33 to end the first half.  A combination of poor shooting and turnovers by the Tigers kept the Cyclones in the game.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The "Fastest 40 Minutes" needed every second Wednesday night.  Marcus Denmon scored a team-high 20 points to the lead the Missouri Tigers (23-9) to an opening round 88-84 win against the Texas Tech Red Raiders (13-19).  The loss brings an end to head coach Pat Knight's reign in Lubbock after three seasons. Missouri led comfortably by 13 points with 5:32 to go in the second-half after two Kim English free throws.  Texas Tech closed the gap to 86-84 with only 22 seconds remaining.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Frank Haith begins his reign at Mizzou the way he wanted, with a victory. JOPLIn, Mo. - Most exhibition college basketball games are meaningless. But not all. Marcus Denmon scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Missouri Tigers to a 114-68 victory Sunday night against the Missouri Southern Lions in the "One State, One Classic. "  None of the  3,477 fans at the sold-out Leggett and Platt Center cared about the score. The game raised $100,000 for Joplin's tornado recovery fund.  The NCAA granted permission for Mizzou to  play the exhibition game away from home.  New Missouri Head Coach Frank Haith came up with the idea after a visit to the city days after the May 22 EF-5 twister.  The storm damaged a 13-mile swath of the heart of Joplin, killing 162 and injuring hundreds more.

Senior guard Kim English scored 21 points to lead the No. 3 Missouri Tigers (25-2, 12-2) to a 71-62 victory Saturday at Texas A&M (13-13, 4-10).  Mizzou swept its soon-to-be rival in the Southeastern Conference. Missouri survived a late run by Texas A&M.  The aggies cut the lead to five points with an Elston Turner 3-pointer with 1:22 remaining.  After a Mizzou turnover, the Aggies had a chance to cut that lead to a single possession.  David Loubeau was called for a charging foul, after his drive to the lane was cut-off by Steve Moore.  Senior guard Marcus Denmon's three-pointer on the following possession extended Mizzou's lead to eight points, sealing the victory.

SHENZHEN, China - A Team USA debut to remember for Marcus Denmon. The Missouri Tigers guard scored 11 points to lead Team USA to a 108-67 victory over Mexico in pool play at the 2011 World University Games in China.  The Kansas City native added three steals, three rebounds, and three assists. “I felt like we got our first game jitters out,” said Denmon. “We came out a little slow, but that comes from having 12 new guys coming together. " The team of college all-stars started slow, trailing Mexico 24-22 after the first quarter.  The Americans built a six point lead by halftime.  Then, Team USA dominated the second-half.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Kim English's NBA career begins in Detroit. The Pistons drafted the University of Missouri forward with the 44th selection in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft Thursday.  "MO Town!!," tweeted English shortly after the draft.  "Blessed to be a Detroit Piston.  Ready to get to work. " The Baltimore, Maryland native averaged 14.5 points per game in his senior campaign, helping lead Mizzou to the Big 12 Conference Tournament championship.  English shot better than 38-percent from three-point-range last season too.  He was a third-team all-Big 12 selection.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou senior guards Michael Dixon and Marcus Denmon have earned all-Big 12 Conference recognition from the league's coaches. Denmon earned first-team all-conference honors.  He is the first Tiger since Kareem Rush to earn back-to-back first-team nods.  Denmon led the Tigers with 18 points per game.  Denmon is the only repeat performer on the first-team. The coaches named Dixon the Sixth Man of the Year Award.  The Kansas City area native averaged 13 points per game off the bench for Mizzou.

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Mizzou had Kansas on the ropes.  The Tigers just couldn't deliver that knockout blow. Thomas Robinson scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the No. 4 Kansas Jayhawks (24-5, 14-2) to a comeback 87-86 victory over the No. 3 Missouri Tigers (25-4, 12-4).  The loss stings for Missouri, which led Kansas by as many as 19 points in the second-half.  "Unfortunately, in the second half, we knew Kansas would make a run, and they did," said Missouri Head Coach Frank Haith.  "Some plays didn't go our way; some bang-bang plays didn't go our way.  Give Kansas credit, they made plays and they made free throws.

"Honestly I think a tough ballgame for us. Give K-State credit," said Missouri Head Coach Frank Haith.  "I thought our guys competed hard and we fought, but you got to give them credit in terms of ways it was played; I think it was to their advantage.

STILLWATER, Okla. - Mizzou's No. 2 ranking may not last longer than a week. Freshman Le'Bryan Nash scored a career-high 27 points to lead the Oklahoma State Cowboys (10-10, 3-4) to a 79-72 victory over the No. 2 Missouri Tigers (18-2, 5-2).  The upset excited the OSU student section, rushing the floor. "Obviously, it was a tough loss for us," said Missouri Head Coach Frank Haith.  "We allowed Oklahoma State to dictate the tempo of the game in how they were running thier offense, and I thought too many loose balls.

WACO, Texas - Mizzou's mental toughness on the road was too much. Ricardo Ratliffe scored a career-high 27 points to lead the No. 5 Missouri Tigers (18-1, 5-1) to an 89-88 victory over the No. 3 Baylor Bears (17-2, 4-2) Saturday afternoon.  The win improves Missouri to 2-1 on the road in the Big 12 Conference.  The loss is Baylor's second-straight after beginning the season 17-0. "I thought our guys showed a lot of poise down the stretch," said Missouri Head Coach Frank Haith.
