FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas' aspirations of playing in the NCAA Tournament rests on its play on the road. The Razorbacks (16-6, 4-3) will go on the road this Saturday to play Southeastern Conference Western division rival LSU (12-9, 2-5).  Arkansas will stay on the road next week at Georgia too.  The Hogs are unbeaten at Bud Walton Arena (16-0), but has yet to win a game away from home.  Tip-off is at 12:45 p.m. on the SEC Network. FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Pigskin on the Friday after Thanksgiving is as much of a tradition as leftovers for Arkansas fans. CBS announced it will air this season's LSU vs. Arkansas game the Friday November 23.  The game will be played in Fayetteville for the first time since 1992.  Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m. The Hogs and Bayou Bengals have played the "Battle for the Boot" game 15 of the last 17 years on the Friday after Thanksgiving.  The Hogs...

SHREVEPORT, La. - From one Tigers to another. Louisiana State University welcomed the University of Missouri to the Southeastern Conference with a full-page advertisement in the Shreveport Times.  The ad asks the Shreveport area to "get out and support the newest conference member. " Mizzou will play North Carolina next week in the Advocare Independence Bowl.  The Missouri Tigers will become an official member of the SEC in July. FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas and LSU play for the "Golden Boot" every year.  This season there's more than just a trophy at stake. The winner of Saturday's much-anticipated showdown in Little Rock remains in the hunt for a BCS bowl bid.  LSU already has ten wins.  Arkansas is going for its tenth win. "Wherever they put us that's where we will play," said Arkansas Razorbacks quarterback Ryan Mallett.  "This is the biggest game of the year this week. " LSU's ten wins have come the hard way.  The Tigers have relied on its defense for come-from-behind victories early in the season.

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Arkansas' basketball season likely ended on a sour note in the Southeastern Conference Tournament. LSU freshman center Johnny O'Bryant scored 18 points to lead the Tigers (18-13, 7-9) to an opening round 70--54 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks (18-14, 6-10).  The Hogs end the year losers of eight of their last ten games. Arkansas' "Fastest Forty Minutes" started fast, but had little to show for it.  The Hogs trailed 16-12 with 7:38 to go in the first-half, despite forcing six turnovers in those opening minutes.  The two schools entered halftime tied at 28. The Tigers began the second-half on a 14-5 run to take control.  Arkansas never had an answer for O'Bryant, who scored 12 of his game-high 18 points in the second-half.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Upsets have set up a BCS mess between the Southeastern Conference's three best teams. FAYETEVILLE, Ark. - As Rotnei Clarke goes, so go the Hogs. The junior guard scored 25 points, including 5-of-6 from 3-point range to lift the Arkansas Razorbacks (15-9, 5-6) to an 80-61 victory over the Louisiana State Tigers (10-15, 3-8) Saturday in Fayetteville.  The victory snaps a three-game losing streak for the Hogs.  It extends LSU's losing streak to eight games. "I thought the guys stepped up and made shots and I'm proud of our guys," said Arkansas Head Coach John Pelphrey.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Losses to No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama mean little to the pollsters. Arkansas (10-2, 6-2) fell five spots in the new Bowl Championship Series poll to No. 8.  The Hogs are the top-ranked two-loss team in the poll.  LSU beat Arkansas 41-17 Friday afternoon.  The Razorbacks finished third in the Southeastern Conference's Western division behind the Tigers and the Crimson Tide. The humnans are not impressed by the road losses, but the computers appreciate them.  Arkansas ranks No. 10 in the coaches' poll and No. 9 in the Harris poll, both compiled by humans.  Computers average the Hogs at No. 6.  Three computer polls rank the Hogs as high as No. 4. FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long promised a big-time addition to the 2012 football schedule.  He delivered. FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas' final game finished as typical as the rest in a 2012 season fans want to forget. The LSU Tigers (10-2, 6-2) jumped out to an early double-digit lead, then held on to be at the Arkansas Razorbacks (4-8, 2-6) 20-13 Friday at Razorback Stadium.  The loss likely ends John L. Smith;'s temporary tenure as the Hogs head coach. "I'm gonna look back on it as a step in my life to coach great young men at a great institution," said Smith.  "I'm blessed. " The game ended with Arkansas driving for a game-tying touchdown.  Quarterback Tyler Wilson led the Razorbacks deep into LSU territory with under a minute to go.  Wilson's final pass as a Razorback fell incomplete in the end zone as the final second ticked off the clock.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Sheldon Richardson was Missouri's lone selection the All-SEC Football team as he made it on the First-Team Defense at Tackle. The 6'4, 295-pound junior has already announced his intention to enter the NFL Draft and will forego his senior season. Arkansas had a season fall well below expectations, but that didn't stop four Razorbacks from making it onto the various teams. Cobi Hamilton, a senior receiver, was a unanimous selection to the First-Team. Hamilton finished the season with 90 catches for 1,335 yards and five touchdowns.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Arkansas knows it must beat both Alabama and LSU in the same year to go to the next level. The Southeastern Conference media predicts the Razorbacks to finish third for the second-straight season behind LSU and defending National Champion Alabama.  Auburn, Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Ole Miss follow the top three schools. Arkansas' high expectations start with the offense.  The SEC media chose quarterback Tyler Wilson, running-back Knile Davis and wide-receiver Cobi Hamilton to the all-SEC preseason first-team.  Offensive guard Alvin Bailey and linebacker Alonzo Highsmith earned second-team honors.  Punter Dylan Breeding placed on the third team.  LSU led the conference with 13 selections on the first three all-SEC teams.

NEW YORK CITY - The Jeff Fisher-era begins with a big presence in the middle of the defensive line. The St. Louis Rams chose LSU defensive tackle Micheal Brockers with the No. 14 pick in the NFL Draft Thursday.  The Rams traded the No. 6 pick to Dallas Cowboys shortly before the selection. Brockers starred on the defensive front for the Tigers.  The 6'5", 322-pound lineman brings versatility, either lining up in the middle or on the end.  He has the athleticism to even play linebacker in the league.

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Missouri State swimming & diving team sent freshman Garrett Nevels to Iowa City to conclude his first season with the Bears with some of Midwest's top divers at the NCAA Zone 'D' Diving Championships. Nevels, the lone qualifier for the Bears, was one of 31 male divers vying for a chance to compete at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships two weeks from now in Seattle, Wash. The group of 31 included athletes from Iowa, LSU, Minnesota, Mizzou, Saint Louis, SMU, South Dakota State, Texas, Texas A&M, Wisconsin-Green Bay and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas started March the same as it finished February. Arnett Moultrie had a double-double, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to lead the Mississippi State Bulldogs (21-10, 8-8) to a 79-59 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks (18-13, 6-10).  Freshman BJ Young led the Hogs with 16 points. Arkansas tied the game early at 15-15 with a 6-0 run.  Mississippi State took control after that run.  The Bulldogs began to pull away with a 9-2 run, then extending the lead to 37-23 at halftime.  Mississippi State used a 16-5 run midway through the second-half to turn a single-digit lead into a blowout.  Arkansas finished Southeastern Conference play ninth..  The Hogs will play Thursday against No. 8 LSU in New Orleans.  Tip-off is at Noon on the SEC Network.
