SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Legendary singer Bob Dylan will take the stage at JQH Arena this spring, his website announced on Friday. The recording career of Dylan, 72, has spanned roughly a half-century, in which he has recorded a number of songs that remain popular to this day. The concert, featuring Dawes, is April 24. Tickets go on sale March 22 at 10 a.m.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Missouri State University says tickets will go on sale Nov. 4 at 10 a.m. for Brad Paisley 's concert at JQH Arena at 7:30 on Feb. 25. Paisley's concert will include the band Perry and "American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery. Ticket prices are $60, $40 or $25, plus handling fees. Tickets will be on sale at Missouristatetix.com, at JQH Arena, or by phone at (417) 836-7678 or 1-888-476-7849. The concert is part of a nationwide tour.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Within four hours, tickets for Elton John's upcoming concert at JQH Arena were all gone on Saturday. A crowd started gathering Friday afternoon to get tickets. People who tried to buy from the website reported running into technical problems because of the high volume of traffic. One fan who waited in line has been to 13 Elton John concerts but this will be the first time that she's been able see her favorite singer in the Queen City. "Never thought that he would ever come to Springfield," Lisa Wingo said. "I never thought he would ever come to Springfield and I thought it was a joke actually.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Rock artist Kid Rock will bring his tour to Springfield in February. The "Rebel Soul" tour will support the album of the same name, and includes a stop at JQH Arena on Feb. 5. Buckcherry and Hellbound Glory will open for Kid Rock. Kid Rock's new album "Rebel Soul" was released last week to positive reviews. Tickets will go on sale on Dec. 14 at 10 a.m., starting at $39.50 plus handling fees. For more information, visit www.jqharena.missouristate.edu . SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Missouri State closes out its 2011-12 home slate Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. when the Bears host Indiana State on Senior Night at JQH Arena. Bears fans will pay tribute to the club's four seniors during pregame ceremonies. Kyle Weems (F, Topeka, Kan.), Caleb Patterson (C, Ames, Okla.), Isaiah Rhine (C, Versailles, Mo.) and Michael Bizoukas (G, Munster, Ind.) will all be playing their final regular-season game on The Q hardwood, each with his own special place in the program's history.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Casting Crowns will perform at JQH Arena on April 24 at 7. Tickets go on sale on Jan. 23. The Christian music group has won Dove, Grammy, and AMA awards. It was the Dove Artist of the Year for 2010. Its 44-stop "Come to the Well" tour starts on Feb. 9 in South Carolina and ends on May 5 in Texas. SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Missouri State returns to JQH Arena Sunday at 2 p.m. to battle Bradley in a pivotal home game for the Bears who have reeled off a pair of road wins in the last week. Paul Lusk's squad begins a three-game week after winning three of its last four games overall. The Bears have maintained a share of third place in the MVC standings after recent victories on the road over Drake (57-39) and Southern Illinois (56-54) have pushed the Bears' ledger to 15-11 overall and 8-6 in the MVC which is tied with Illinois State for the league's third-best mark.

Edited news release: SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Thanks to a major gift of an unannounced amount from philanthropist and long-time Missouri State University supporter Jim Morris of Springfield, work will begin this year on the basketball locker rooms and team facilities in JQH Arena. They'll be under the stands in an undeveloped area (see photo). In recognition of the gift, it will be named the Jim D. Morris Basketball Complex. The university announced the gift on Wednesday morning at a news conference. The design of the complex will begin soon, with a target completion date of fall 2013. The two-level complex, located on the south side of the arena floor, will include locker rooms for both the Bears and Lady Bears basketball teams, coaches' offices, an athletic training facility, an academic study area, a state-of-the-art team video room and other support areas.
