BRANSON, Mo. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers opened the Table Rock Dam flooldgates at 2 p.m. Monday and started releasing 20,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) and then increased that to 30,000 cfs by 4 p.m. The Corps says it will maintain and monitor the 30,000 cfs. Table Rock likely will crest at 931 (feet above sea level) later this week. The lake had risen one foot in two hours by early Monday afternoon. The 30,000 cfs is 20,000 cfs less than in spring 2008. Branson city officials don't know how much this release of water will raise the level of Lake Taneycomo as other factors like creeks and streams flow into the lake, adding to the volume.
