      TODAY Near 100° Partly cloudy and very warm. Heat Advisory . TONIGHT Mid 70s Mostly clear. THURSDAY Near 100° Slight chance for storms. Staying hot. 12-hour forecast 24-hour forecast Satellite & Radar Feels Like Allergy Index Almanac HEAT ADVISORY JUST BEGAN At noon temperatures were well into the 90s in most locations with heat index values in the upper 90s. A Heat Advisory is now in effect in the northern and northwestern Ozarks.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory starting at noon Thursday. Hot and humid conditions to impact the region through Saturday. High pressure aloft will stall over the area today through Saturday. Hot and humid conditions are forecast to occur through at least the first half of the upcoming holiday weekend. Extreme Southwest Missouri will experience afternoon heat index values ranging from 102 to 107 degrees today through Saturday. Impacts...with a prolonged period of heat expected...the risk for heat related illnesses will increase as we progress through the upcoming holiday weekend.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A heat advisory    is posted for a large part of the Ozarks from 1 p.m. Thursday to 7 p.m. Saturday. * Timing and areas affected are south and east of a Powell-to-Greenfield-to-Iberia line. * Temperature s likely will be in the upper 90s to around 105 each day, with heat index values from 100 to 107. * Increasingly hot and humid conditions will combine to make prolonged outdoor activities dangerous. Heat index values of around 105 degrees or higher will make those performing outdoor activities more susceptible to heat related illnesses.

Park Board to keep Grant Beach and Westport pools open late Friday SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Springfield-Greene County Park Board has announced the Grant Beach and Westport pools will extend their pool hours tonight. The extended hours will be in place due to the Heat Advisory issued by the National Weather Service. Grant Beach, 1300 N. Grant Ave., and Westport, 3100 W. Mt. Vernon St., pools will stay open until 8 p.m. tonight. Should the heat advisory be extended throughout the weekend, Fassnight Pool would stay open until 8 p.m. Saturday; Meador and Westport pools will remain open until 8 p.m. Sunday.

The forecast is looking very hot for this weekend and for the week ahead as upper level high pressure builds into the center of the country.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for most of the Ozarks until 7 p.m. Sunday.  It covers the counties of Bourbon, Crawford, Cherokee, Benton, Morgan, Vernon, St. Clair, Hickory, Camden, Barton, Cedar, Polk, Dallas, Jasper, Dade, Greene, Newton, Lawrence, Christian, McDonald, Barry and Stone Counties. This heat advisory includes the cities of Springfield, Nixa, Ozark, Branson, Pittsburg, Baxter Springs, Columbus, Warsaw, Cole Camp, Versailles, Nevada, Appleton City, Osceola, Hermitage, Lamar, El Dorado Springs, Stockton, Joplin and Carthage.
