JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The Missouri Supreme Court upheld a trial court's verdict in the murder conviction of Donald Nash.  In 2008, authorities say, advancements in DNA technology linked Nash to Judy Spencer's death in Salem in 1982.  He was sentenced to life in prison after a jury convicted him. Investigators said Spencer was shot and strangled.  Prosecutors linked DNA found at the crime scene to Nash. Prosecutors charged Nash under a law that was in place in 1982, not the laws in place in 2008.  His attorney argued on appeal that, when first-degree murder replaced capital murder in the Missouri lawbook in 1984, lawmakers deleted capital murder entirely.  The Supreme Court ruled Nash was properly charged and convicted.

SALEM, Mo. -- It's a scene repeated every day throughout the Ozarks: kids riding school buses.  Last Tuesday, though, a bus ride for a Salem kindergarten student was anything but typical when an older boy brought a container onto the bus. "A fourth grader had convinced him that it was a lemonade or apple juice," said the mother, whom we'll call Sue (not her real name), of the kindergarten boy. It turns out it wasn't lemonade or apple juice; it was urine. After taking a drink, Sue said, her son immediately realized it wasn't what he was told.  She added that the bus driver discovered what was going on and called the school right way. Sue was devastated when she heard.  "It was gut wrenching to say the least," she said.
