MARSHFIELD, Mo.-- A classic rock band with local roots takes the stage in Marshfield on Saturday night. The James River Band will be in concert beginning at 7 pm at the Marshfield High School auditorium, 370 State Highway DD. Proceeds from the event will go to the Marshfield school band program. Band students will be playing on several of the numbers with the James River Band. Tickets at the door are $12 at the door for adults, $6 for kids. Activities before the concert begin at 4 pm at the high school, including a hot dog roast and fun and games for the kids.

Thousands will head to this north Stone County community on Friday and Saturday for one of the area's largest festivals. At least 6,000 chicken dinners will be served during the Broiler Fest.  Activities begin at 11:00 am Friday with music at the gospel tent and a craft show. Rides from Bluff City Shows open at 5:00 pm with a beauty pageant at 6:00 pm.  The evening concludes with a free bluegrass concert featuring "Missouri Boatride," at 8:00 pm. The festival resumes Saturday morning with a parade through downtown starting at 9:00am.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo-- It's the end of an era for one of Springfield's most popular bands. Big Smith is calling it a day after performing and recording for 15 years.  The announcement was made on their Facebook page , saying it was time for its members to go their separate ways. The group will post its final concert dates during the next few weeks.  They plan to play into the first of next year.   Big Smith Facebook page statement: With heavy hearts we deliver the news that after 15 years of touring and recording, Big Smith will soon be calling it a day. We will continue playing through the early months of 2012, making sure to hit our favorite towns and venues, but will then cease performing and recording for the foreseeable future.

SPRIGNFIELD, Mo. - A big idea for a weekend of concerts is now underway on the land above the Springfield Underground, where an expected 30 to 40 thousand people will be gathering, starting Friday afternoon, to see more than 30 acts ranging from Trace Adkins and Tim McGraw to REO Speedwagon and Train. KY-3's Joe Hickman shows us, some fans are getting into that "Woodstock" communal feeling. You'll find all types of folks at the Show Me Music Festival.  The cowboots and shorts crowd, the lip-synchers, the family goers, the mellow chair loungers, and the dancers.

LAMPE, Mo. -- The Black Oak Amphitheater is set to host the biggest summer of concerts since the historic venue's renovation and reopening in 2010.  Partnering with title sponsor Coors Light® and presented by PFI, the home of BootDaddy, the series will include some of the most popular touring acts in the nation. Branson's official kickoff to summer is Memorial Day Weekend.  On Sunday, May 26, Grammy Nominated member of the Grand Old Opry, actor, and television personality Trace Adkins will lead off the summer series.  Rocker Aaron Lewis will support Adkins on the kick-off show.  Lewis, best known for his work as the lead singer of Staind, has sold 13 Million albums worldwide.  The Staind hit, “It's Been Awhile ” , continues to be the most played rock song of the decade.  Rounding out the May 26 lineup is the southern rock group Blackberry Smoke, which has toured with ZZ Top and The Marshal Tucker Band.

BRANSON, MO - (April 26, 2012) - Dick Clark has been on many minds and in many hearts since his recent passing. But for Legends in Concert in Branson, Missouri, preserving his memory and amazing impact in music took on a whole different meaning weeks before his sudden death. On the morning of February 29th, 2012, the storm sirens sounded across the rolling hills of Branson, Missouri. Sleeping soundly in their beds, the Branson residents were rudely awakened by the fury of the Leap Day Tornado.

JOPLIN, Mo. - With the one year anniversary of the Joplin tornado approaching, on the 22nd of this month, a group is gathering to bring a different kind of hope. A group of 50 musicians., 150 singers and 2 narrators from all over the country are putting on a free concert at Joplin's Memorial Hall Saturday night. They will tell the story of the devastation and recovery that the citizens had to endure. Dr. Hubert Bird, a former professor of music in New Hampshire, now lives in Baxter Springs, Kansas and was inspired to create a 45 minute, 3 movement piece that takes the listener on a journey from just before the storm to the future that is full of hope.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Gillioz Theatre says Grace Potter & the Nocturnals will grace the stage at the downtown venue on June 8.  Tickets for the concert are $25 in advance and will go on sale on May 12 at noon, according to a press release. Grace Potter and the Nocturnals formed in Vermont and released its debut album, "Nothing but the Water," in 2005.  A new album, "The Lion The Beast The Beat," is scheduled to drop in June. SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Missouri State University said Tuesday that Carrie Underwood will return to JQH Arena for a concert next Oct. 28.  Keith Boaz, director of JQH Arena, said ticket prices and other concert details will be released next week. The concert will part of Underwood's " The Blown Away Tour . "  She last performed at JQH Arena on June 15, 2010.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Country music performer Josh Turner, will grace the stage at Drury University's O'Reilly Family Event Center this June, it was announced this morning. Turner will headline a concert that also features Matt Stell and the Crashers, as well as The Mark Chapman Band, Friday, June 15 at 7 p.m. Turner, a native of Hannah, S.C., has sold more than 5 million albums and has had a number of number-one hits, including "Your Man," "Would You Go With Me," and "Why Don't We Just Dance.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Missouri State University Police are investigating widespread vandalism on campus.  They believe it all happened after a concert at JQH Arena on Thursday night. "It's disrespectful.  It's not right that the university has to foot the bill for something like that," said student Tim Ryan. Students woke up Friday to find their campus covered in red with the letters DGK spray painted on signs and buildings. "We had numerous people on campus for the concert last night, so we kind of attribute it to that," said Steve Lowery, a shift supervisor with MSU campus police.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Canadian rock band Theory of a Deadman, will perform at Springfield's Gillioz Theatre, according to a Monday press release from the theatre. Theory of a Deadman is on tour promoting their latest album, "The Truth Is... " and is slated to perform at the downtown Springfield venue May 29 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m.  Tickets will be available at the box office, via phone at (417) 863-9491 or by visiting www.gillioz.org. Theory of a Deadman has been active since 2001 and has toured alongside such bands as Shinedown and Alter Bridge.  Two of their songs, "Bad Girlfriend" and "Lowlife," have reached #1 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.

BRANSON, MO - (April 4, 2012) - Celebrated tribute artist production “Legends in Concert” announced today that with roof repairs now complete, the restoration of its home at Dick Clark's American Bandstand Theater will be finished in less than two weeks. The resumption of “Legends” 2012 performance schedule will commence on April 14, following the impact of the tornado that touched down in Branson on February 29. A gala fundraising event, benefitting victims of the tornado, will be held at the theater on April 20. The gala will feature an 8pm performance by Legends in Concert and special guest performers soon to be announced.
