A construction-related delay has caused the work on Chestnut Expressway underneath U.S. Highway 65 to be postponed to sometime in November, although an exact date has not been set. The Missouri Dept. of Transportation said they will announce the new closure dates as soon as they are scheduled. When the closure takes place, crews will install infrastructure needed to convert the interchange to a diverging diamond.

Springfield, Mo. -- Customers are leaving the Hostess shop on West Chestnut Expressway in Springfield with bags and boxes full of goodies.  The empty shelves show just how busy the store has been since the company announced Friday it would go out of business for good. "The Hostess products, my kids love them.  I don't typically let them have them very often, so I figure I might as well spoil them before it's all gone," said Tami Gray. Longtime cashiers at the Springfield Hostess shop said the store is busier now than it has ever been before.  The slashed prices created excitment for their customers.  But the changes mean uncertainty for them.  Some of the employees have been at the shop close to two decades.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - A major road improvement project includes a safer and more appealing entrance to downtown. A $1.25-million project at the intersection of National Ave. and East Trafficway includes new turn lanes, traffic signals, and a new landscaped gateway to Jordan Valley Park. Also included in the improvements is a new railroad crossing on National, just south of Chestnut Expressway.  Aside from a brand-new road surface, new crossing signals and gates have been installed.  The former crossing arrangement included lights only, and lacked gates.  The new gates and signals are in a “quadrant” arrangement.  This ensures all four lanes of traffic are completely blocked by barriers when a train is coming.  The goal is to make it much more difficult for vehicles to drive around the gates to try and beat a train.

SPRINGFIELD -- The first ten minutes of police dash-cam video from a Springfield patrol car recorded on November 1, 2011, illustrate another routine traffic stop. But what one Sprinfield man said happened after those first minutes has become the basis of a civil lawsuit filed by Peter Anselmo on October 31, 2012. Springfield police officer Brian Reeves issued Anselmo tickets for speeding and driving without proof of insurance after he pulled him over a year ago. When the officer started to pull away, Anselmo opened his door and leaned out to ask the officer if his name was on the ticket.
