CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo -- Some Christmas thieves in Camden County took advantage of lake homeowners being away for the holidays. One couple used to have a full house, but now just a few bed frames. Debbie and David Maassen were hoping to spend a long weekend at their lake home ringing in the New Year. Instead they are one of three homeowners in a Climax Springs neighborhood dealing with a grinch. It looks like the Maassens just moved in, but that's not the case. "As you can see the indentations in the carpet, all of our furniture was gone," said Debbie Maassen.

CAMDENTON, Mo.-- Some membrs of the Mid-County Fire Protection District Board in Camden County believe their district is inspecting for codes they don't have the authority or experience to enforce. The board is discussing the heated topic in a public meeting Thursday night. The district adopted the International Building Code as it's own, with a few exceptions, years ago. Inspectors with the fire district are in charge of enforcing those building codes. Now there is disagreement over whether the fire district actually has the authority or experience needed to enforce anything other than fire codes. Two board members are proposing a new, much shorter set of codes, involving only fire safety.
