FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Sophomore BJ Young of the University of Arkansas basketball team was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday following his double-double against Northwestern State on Saturday. Young scored 26 points and grabbed a career high 13 rebounds in Arkansas' 79-61 victory over Northwestern State while also adding seven assists and a career high four steals. The double-double was the second of Young's career and his 36 th double-digit scoring effort. It was also his fifth 20-plus point game of the 2012-13 season and 11 th in 43 career outings.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Sophomore BJ Young and junior Marshawn Powell of the University of Arkansas men's basketball team were each named to All-SEC teams by the league coaches it was announced on Friday. Young, a 6-3 guard, was placed on the first-team while Powell, a 6-7 forward, garnered second-team honors. The All-SEC nods are the second for both players as the two were named to the first- and second-teams, respectively by the league's media in late October. Young led the Southeastern Conference in scoring by a freshman a year ago and has been named to several preseason lists. Along with his All-SEC accolades he has also been named a third-team preseason All-American by Sporting News, the No. 17 impact player in the nation by ESPN, the top player in the SEC by Sports Illustrated , the No. 28 player in the country by CBSSports among others.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- University of Arkansas Head Basketball Coach Mike Anderson's “Fastest 40 Minutes of Basketball” was on full display Friday night at Bud Walton Arena as the Razorbacks downed Southwest Baptist 106-78 in an exhibition game. “We took advantage of our size and athletic ability against a team that had shooters,” Anderson said. At the close of the game a total of 12 Razorbacks tallied points as the fast-paced offense took over the arena. As a team the Razorbacks were 38-of-72 in field goals made and 6-of-14 from the three-point line.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - High expectations return to Bud Walton Arena. The Southeastern Conference media chose the Arkansas Razorbacks to finish fifth overall in its preseason poll for the 2012-2013 hoops season. The media picked Kentucky to win the conference. The SEC eliminated divisions for the upcoming season. Sophomore BJ Young earned a spot on the preseason first-team all-SEC. Marshawn Powell earned second-team honors. Powell injured his knee in the third game last season. He missed the rest of the season.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The "Senior Night" festivities will not take long this year. Fans will say goodbye to seniors Marvelle Waith and Michael Sanchez Tuesday night when the Arkansas Razorbacks host the Ole Miss Rebels. The Hogs have lost back-to-back games at Bud Walton Arena, after winning the first 17 games. Tip-off is at 6:00 p.m. on ESPN-U. News and Notes: Finally: The win at Auburn was Arkansas' first road victory of the season. The Razorbacks were the last Division One school above .500 to win on the road.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas' post-season hopes may depend on its first road victory. The Razorbacks (17-11, 5-8) will travel to play the Auburn Tigers (14-13, 4-9) Saturday. Arkansas remains win-less on the road this season. The Hogs have lost last five of its last six games. That stretch included back-to-back losses at Bud Walton Arena, where the Hogs had been undefeated. The last loss against Alabama is typical of the late-season struggles for Arkansas. Alabama used a 39-12 run to erase a double-digit deficit in the first-half to its own double-digit lead in the second-half. The Razorbacks cut the lead to five points late, losing 79-68.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The magic is gone from Bud Walton Arena. The Alabama Crimson Tide (18-9, 7-6) used a 19-2 run at the end of the first-half and the beginning of the second-half to beat the Arkansas Razorbacks (17-11, 5-8) 79-68 at Bud Walton Arena Thursday. The loss is Arkansas' second-straight at home. Arkansas jumped out to an early lead after a hot shooting start. The Razorbacks opened the game five-of-five from three-point range. It built a double-digit lead by as many as 12 points.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas has another tourney resume' builder Saturday, The Razorbacks (17-9, 5-6) will play No. 14 Florida (20-6, 8-3) at Bud Walton Arena. Tip-off is at 5:00 p.m. on ESPN2. It has been a tale of two seasons. Arkansas is undefeated at home (17-0), but has not won a game on the road (0-9). The Hogs are running out of chances to impress the NCAA Tournament selection committee. Arkansas is battling Mississippi State, Alabama and Ole Miss for a top four seed in the Southeastern Conference Tournament. The Razorbacks play all three of those teams in the final two weeks of the season, Alabama and Ole Miss at home.

Mike Anderson's Razorbacks (17-8, 5-5) will go to Knoxville Wednesday night in search of the season's first road win at the Tennessee Volunteers (13-12, 5-5). Tip-off is at 7:00 on the SEC Network. The Hogs are 17-0 inside Bud Walton Arena, but 0-8 elsewhere. Including Tennessee, Arkansas has just three chances to earn an all-important road victory. That road record may make or break the Razorbacks post-season chances.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Even the Razorbacks admit they are a different team at Bud Walton Arena. Freshman BJ Young scored 27 points to lead the Arkansas Razorbacks (17-8, 5-5) to a 76-65 victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks (9-15, 1-9) Saturday. The Hogs set a new record for victories at Bud Walton Arena with 17. Young made his minutes count in the first-half. He scored 16 points off the bench, sparking a 11-0 run to end the half with a 38-27 lead. The Razorbacks scored the first six points of the second-half to take a commanding lead. Arkansas built that lead up to 23 late in the second-half. South Carolina would not go away. The Gamecocks used a 16-0 run to cut the Razorbacks lead to 68-61 with 2:39 to play. Young then hit four-straight free throws to pull Arkansas away again.
