SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Springfield Police Department is investigating the death of a man whose body was discovered in Lake Springfield late Wednesday night.  According to investigators, a pair of fishermen found the body around 10 p.m. floating in the water at the Clay Henshaw Memorial Fishing Access, near the James River Power Plant, and phoned police. A police department spokesman said late Thursday afternoon that they do not know the name of the man.  While identification was found near the body, police have not been able to match the ID to the body.  Investigators say there are no signs of foul play on the body, but are treating the death as 'suspicious' until autopsy results are in.  That autopsy could be Thursday evening or Friday morning.

CAMDENTON, Mo. -- Investigators are waiting for autopsy results to confirm the identity of a person who died in a house fire early Sunday.  The victim was in a back bedroom of the home at 224 Wilkerson Avenue. Someone reported the fire about 1:50 a.m. after seeing a large amount of smoke.  A police officer found the burning home, but wasn't able to get inside it because of heavy smoke and fire.  The Camdenton Fire Department fought the fire with help from Mid County Fire Department.  The victim was found after the fire was out. An investigator for the State Fire Marshal's Office determined the fire started in the bedroom, near the bed.   Police hope the autopsy will determine the cause of death as well as the victim's name.
