SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A wreck south of the city killed a woman from Ozark.  Troopers say Wilma Tines drove off Farm Road 163 (South National Avenue) and hit an utility pole on Wednesday afternoon. An ambulance took Tines, 72, to a hospital, but doctors could not save her.

REEDS SPRING, Mo. -- A man from Reeds Spring is dead after a crash in Stone County. Troopers say Michael Miller lost control of his truck on Housecreek Road, near Galena, this afternoon, his truck flipped and hit a tree. Miller was 40 years old.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - City officials in Springfield want to revamp the College Street Corridor, and they'll show the public their plans for the area at an open house this afternoon. The meeting takes place between 4 and 6 p.m. in the tasting room at Mother's Brewing on College and Grant. The College Street Corridor is between Kansas Expressway and Grant Avenue, along College and Olive Streets. The draft plan for the area is viewable at www.springfieldmo.gov/collegestreet .

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Soldiers from the Missouri National Guard's 935th Aviation Support Battalion are coming home today. More than 130 soldiers will be reunited with their family and friends this afternoon at 1:30, at Remington's on West Republic Road. Missouri Governor Jay Nixon will speak at the ceremony, and the community is also invited to welcome the soldiers home from their deployment to Kuwait.

HALLTOWN, Mo. - A Kansas woman has died as the result of a head-on collision between her car and a tractor-trailer near Halltown. According to a crash report filed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Angela R. Grier, 41, of Frontenac, Kan., was killed when her westbound 2009 Honda Accord crossed the center line of Missouri Route 96 one mile west of Halltown and was struck by a 2012 Peterbilt tractor-trailer. Grier was wearing a seatbelt, the patrol reported. The truck's driver sustained minor injuries, but refused treatment at the scene.

ALTUS, Okla. - A worker killed in an industrial accident in Oklahoma has been identified as a man from Springfield. Authorities say 57-year old Mark Rooney died in the accident on Tuesday afternoon at the Planters Cooperative grain elevator in Altus. Rooney had been working inside a lift basket when a co-worker found him. Authorities say it appears Rooney was pinned by a beam. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA, will investigate.
