An accident involving a tractor trailer has all eastbound lanes of I-44 closed at U.S. 65. It happened around 6:15 Saturday evening.  The rig was westbound on I-44 when it crossed into the median, hit the collision cables then a concrete support for the 65 overpass. An eyewitness, who's also an over-the-road driver, said he's never seen a crash that bad before. The Highway Patrol says the driver was able to walk away, but his load, 40,000 pounds of mayonnaise, was blown across the entire interstate especially the eastbound lanes.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Some of the new construction on U.S. 65 is to blame for an accident on Wednesday morning that sent one car flipping.  Two people were in a southbound car when it hit a loose drainage grate between Chestnut Expressway and Sunshine Street.  Though the car went flying and landed on its roof, law enforcement officers say the two inside were able to walk away from the accident. Missouri Department of Transportation staff members believe extra wear and tear on the grates may have loosened it, since traffic lanes are often changing as contractor work to widen the highway to three lanes in each direction.
