NIXA, Mo. -- Police are searching for a driver of an older model minivan who may have been involved in an attempted abduction of a child on Thursday evening.  They're looking at surveillance video from businesses near the reported abduction.

A 9-year-old girl told police that a man and a woman approached her while she was riding her bike in the Village Street Center strip mall parking lot.  The two asked the girl to come away with them.  She rode to her home instead.  The driver then followed the girl, driving past her home nearby.  She was able to run inside her home.

The minivan is light blue and missing a hubcap.  The young man has reddish-brown hair.  The older woman had bleach-blonde hair.

Police showed a photo or video of a vehicle similar to that description to the girl but she couldn't positively identify it.
