SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - A man accused of shooting his 34-year-old girlfriend to death in east Springfield last month faces his first court date today in connection with that incident.

Jonathan Greer faces murder and weapons charges in connection with the shooting death of Angela Holbrook, who was found shot to death in a duplex on East Sunset Street in late July.

According to court documents, two other couples were spending time with Greer and Holbrook at the duplex; a 911 call regarding the shooting came from a home on East Seminole Street later on.

Police coaxed out two adults and three children from that home, and spoke with witnesses from that house, who said they were at the duplex partying. Some witnesses told police they heard a gunshot from inside the home; police served a search warrant later and found Holbrook's body inside.

Greer turned himself in to police when he showed up at the Greene County Jail. He was later formally charged with murder and weapons charges, which are the subject of his scheduled preliminary appearance today.
