BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The winter storms that moved through the area this morning created several outages throughout Southwest Electric Cooperative’s entire system; which serves portions of 11 counties ranging from Springfield to Warsaw, to Camdenton.
Crews have been working since Monday evening when the storm began. Power to the southern portion of our system has been completely restored.
Progress on the northern portion of our system has been slowed due to heavy snow accumulations on power lines, trees and roads. This has made it very time consuming for crews to physically reach some areas, slowing the progress even more.
The main area of power outages remains in Polk, Dallas, Hickory, Benton and Camden counties, with approximately 5,500 members still without power at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Southwest Electric Cooperative has called in additional crews from a neighboring cooperative to speed up the restoration. Current estimate for power restoration to all members is Wednesday morning. Crews will continue working until all power has been restored.
