SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Springfield Police investigators have identified the man shot to death Friday.
Officers found 34-year-old James D. Davis dead in a home on Brower Street near Rogers Avenue shortly after 3:00 p.m. Davis had moved to Springfield from St. Louis. A woman inside the home was stabbed in the assault. Police say her injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

This is the 14th homicide of the year in Springfield. Before this year, the most homicides in one year in the city was 12.
