NIXA, Mo. -- A man from Sparta could face a charge of involuntary manslaughter for a crash that killed his 3-year-old son.  The crash was on Missouri 14, one mile east of Nixa about 4:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Highway Patrol troopers believe John Clark, 33, was driving drunk when he drove his car into the path of an oncoming SUV. That SUV was then struck from behind by another car.  Kohen Clark, 3, died at the scene.

John Clark was rushed to a hospital in Springfield with moderate injuries.  A passenger in the car, Katelynn Melton, 22, is being treated for serious injuries.  A woman in the other car, J'ne Baker, 31, of Clever, is also recovering from moderate injuries.  Her two children, an 8-month-old girl, Rylee, and a 4-year-old boy, Braden, were treated for minor injuries.  No one in the SUV was hurt.  It was driven by Kara Whitworth, 32, of Springfield.

All three drivers were tested for alcohol or drugs in their blood system.  That's standard protocal after a crash.

The Christian County prosecuting attorney's office said Wednesday afternoon that charges against John Clark likely would not be filed on Wednesday, as the investigation continues.
