About 250 CU customers still without electricity as of Saturday night

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.-- As of 9:30pm on Saturday night, around 250 customers of City Utilities were still without electrical service, due to the severe weather that moved through the Ozarks on Friday evening. CU crews, as well as contract utility crews, have been working around the clock to repair service. At one point, around 10,000 CU customers had lost power.

City Utilities says crews will be working throughout the night to restore power to customers. CU says nearly half of its 168 feeders in the service area were damaged by straight line winds of up to 80 miles per hour. Those winds damaged or broke utility poles, with falling trees and limbs tearing down power lines.

CU says areas of the city with the oldest trees have seen the most damage. Tree debris has to be removed before line repair can begin.
