RED BANK, Mo. -- Crystal Prock, who fled from the scene of a deadly shooting by the Douglas County sheriff, was arrested on Thursday evening. She was at a relative's house who lived close to the scene.
The shooting was about 8:30 a.m. Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase got a call from a homeowner who was worried about a man and a woman working on a disabled maroon car in front of the homeowner's home on Douglas County Road 542. As Degase questioned the people, he recognized Prock as having a warrant for her arrest.
Degase said he tried to arrest Prock and she resisted. During the struggle, Degase said the man, David Phillips, 41, of Hillsdale, Ill., threatened him and moved toward him with an unspecified weapon. Degase shot him dead. Prock ran off into the woods.
The Highway Patrol sent an aircraft into the area to try to help officers on the ground find her. Douglas County sheriff's deputies had help in the search from Christian County sheriff’s deputies, state troopers and Department of Conservation agents. The search was still underway in the evening.
