LEAD HILL, Ark. -- A young man from northwest Arkansas is mourning the loss of his wife during childbirth. The tragedy brought much support from family and friends, but Nick Marlowe has also received support from around the world. It started with a post on Facebook to one of the couple's favorite country artists.
Nick Marlowe and Kristin were not high school sweethearts.
"I asked her about 30 or 40 times to go on a date with me, and she'd never go with me," Nick said.
Nick finally got that date and then Kristin's hand in marriage. "They'd always ask us- do you always act like this? We'd always be laughing and smiling and playing around. We did; we were just always happy," Nick says.
He remembers the day Kristin revealed some exciting news. Nick says, "It was the best thing that's ever happened to me, besides meeting her, of course."
The pregnancy was going well. "Kristin is running at six months pregnant. She was just so healthy," says Nick.
But the couple rushed to the hospital seven weeks early. "I was rubbing the back of her neck, just trying to make her comfortable. Next thing I know, the vitals drop, and they're rushing her out," Nick says.
Doctors took their baby by emergency c-section as Kristin slipped away. She had suffered a stroke.
As grief began sinking in, Nick turned on his favorite Pandora station, and for the first time, heard Jake Owen's, Anything For You. "I'll give my heart and my soul. There's no fire I wouldn't walk through. I'll do anything for you," are just part of the song's lyrics. "I really would have. I would have given anything, anything for her to be here," Nick says.
The song prompted Nick to post this message on Jake Owen's Facebook page:
