24-hour forecast
Good afternoon! The rain that fell yesterday over roughly the western half of the Ozarks has made a rather unexpected impact on temperatures. Combined with the cold front coming in, stratus clouds have developed right behind the front. Temps are only in the low 80s, but where it did not rain yesterday readings are in the upper 80s to around 90. So, there will be a large range in readings today. Very dry air has now overspread the region aloft and I doubt we see storms today. I can't completely rule out a storm or two on the front as it drops south today but the big news will be the cool-down behind it. Tomorrow's highs will only be in the middle 80s, with a slight uptick by Sunday.
Early Morning Discussion:
Good morning... Temperatures are in the comfort zone this morning, in the 60s, with plenty of clouds left over from last nights storms. There may be a few storms today but the atmosphere is much drier than we saw Wednesday. The result will be a mostly dry day with highs again in the middle and upper 90s. However, a cold front will be moving through today with a wind shift happening for many early in the afternoon. We'll see lows in the lower and middle 60s on Friday morning with highs in the mid 80s. Saturday morning could be even colder with some middle 50s possible in the eastern Ozarks around West Plains, etc. Highs will slowly climb then through the weekend (though still not too bad) with a chance of rain on Sunday into Monday.
