Kimberling City, MO - August 2, 2012 - 6:01 PM - Crews from Stations 2 & 14 in Kimberling City responded to a reported drowning. A 53 year old male victim was swimming with friends and reportedly went under water approximately 20 feet from the shoreline. Southern Stone County crews sent in one of their firefighters with a tag line and the search results were negative. SSCFPD requested mutual aid from Western Taney County Fire for their dive team. Western Taney County arrived and located the victim. Southern Stone County Fire Protection District does not have a dive team. However, Chief Gyger states "We are looking into ways for funding a diving team and this is on our list of priorities". This is the second time this summer Western Taney has responded in mutual aid to Southern Stone's district.
