Springdale, AR- The Springfield Cardinals scored five 9th inning runs to split the series with NW Arkansas with a 9-5 victory.
The Cardinals started the scoring in the 2nd inning with two outs as Travis Tartamella double scoring Greg Garcia from first base. Kolten Wong followed with a two-run single and Jermaine Curtis delivered an RBI single to make it a 4-0 lead.
Springfield starter Anhtony Ferrara pitched well for 3.1 innings, but had to leave the game due to injury. Chase Reid, just up from Palm Beach, entered and allowed a run over the next 2.2 innings to have the game at 4-1 after six inning.
Still up by three in the 8th, Keith Butler entered and allowed three runs with one out on an RBI double by Yem Prades and a two-run, game-tying double Kevin Kouzmanoff to tie the game 4-4. With runners at second and third, Jorge Rondon came in and walked the first man he faced before striking out the next two batters the strand the bases loaded.
