Badly Needed Rain, for some

A weak cool front moved into the Ozarks this afternoon.  Showers and thunderstorms developed along and south of the front.  Rainfall amounts varied widely from around a trace right near I-44 to pockets of 2 inches plus in southern Missouri and north Arkansas.  A few reports of severe weather were received too including trees and power lines downed and one empty tractor trailer tipped over.

Heat Quickly Returns

Sunshine should return to the Ozarks in full force on Friday, just in time for the beginning of the Ozarks Empire Fair.  Temperatures are forecast to top out around 100 over much of the region.  The high today in Springfield was 93 but West Plains set a new record high today of 103.  Harrison and Mountain Home were also at or above 100 degrees too.  Saturday should be just as warm with Sunday a degree or two cooler due to increasing cloud cover.  Temperatures for much of next week will remain from 95-100 with a chance for rain about Tuesday.
