OSAGE BEACH, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced another traffic pattern shift at an intersection many people in the Osage Beach area say is dangerous.

MoDOT will partially reopen the Key Largo Road intersection, while keeping the restriction in place that prevents drivers making left turns onto U.S. Highway 54 from Osage Beach Parkway.

Crews will add an eastbound acceleration lane on U.S. Highway 54 to give travelers more time to speed up before merging from the parkway to U.S. 54.

In addition, the speed limit in the area will be reduced from 65 mph to 60 mph. That change will take effect Aug. 1.

No changes will be made to the nearby Runabout and Spring Valley intersections located on Route 54, MoDOT said.

MoDOT first held a meeting April 25 to get feedback on a series of proposals to improve safety at the intersection. Staff reviewed public comments before making their decision.

Construction at the intersection will begin in September and should be done by Thanksgiving, according to MoDOT.
