Agreement ends dispute over "quiet zone" in Springfield's Rountee neighborhood

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - A Springfield city councilwoman's email to homeowners in the Rountree neighborhood, obtained by KY3, says there will be no street closings to create a 'quiet zone'.

People near the railroad crossing on south Weller wanted special barriers put up, so passing trains would not have to whistle.  But opposition was overwhelming.

Zone Two councilwoman Cindy Rushefsky's message says public works will announce on Monday alternative plans will be explored.
