CAMDENTON, Mo. -- A 20-year-old man from Gravois Mills faces several charges after a Camden County sheriff’s deputy says he sped away from a parking lot near Greenview early Wednesday.   Dylan Ites was arrested after a chase in which his car’s tires were flattened by a spike strip.

The chase in the wee hours of the morning started after a deputy noticed a car in the parking lot of a closed business.  When the deputy went to investigate, the driver sped away without turning on the car’s headlights.

The car went north on Missouri 7 and then south on Highway EE, which ends near the Lake of the Ozarks.  The driver turned around on Highway EE and drove back to Highway 7.  That’s where he ran over the spike strip placed in the road by a second deputy.  The driver bailed out and fled on foot before being arrested.

Ites is charged with resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated, failure to drive on the right half of the road, driving with a suspended license, and being an intoxicated minor.   He was in the Camden County jail on Wednesday afternoon.
