COLUMBIA, Mo. -- University of Missouri Tigers backup quarterback Ashton Glaser announced on Twitter on Monday that he is transferring to Missouri State University.

"Mizzou has been amazing and I'll never forget it, but for now I need to do what's best for me," wrote Glaser.  "I will be a Tiger at heart."

The junior will have two years of eligibility left at MSU.  He will be able to play immediately for the Bears after transferring to an NCAA Bowl Subdivision (Division 1AA) school.

The 6-foot, 205-pound signal caller saw limited action in his first two seasons at Mizzou.  He ended spring drills third on the quarterback depth chart.  He closed camp going 14-17 for 95 yards in the Black and Gold Game.

Glaser's transfer raises uncertainty on the MU quarterback depth chart.  Starter James Franklin is recovering from shoulder surgery.  Coaches expect him to be healthy by the start of the season.   Redshirt Corbin Berkstresser and true freshman Maty Mouk likely will battle to be Franklin's backup.
