List of fireworks displays in the Ozarks

Some events are being canceled because of dry conditions.

FORT LEONARD WOOD - July 4; The 10K begins at 6 a.m. and the 5K begins at 8 a.m. Both runs will start at Sports Complex B. The cost is $10 per person. The run is open to the public and those interested can register at Davidson Fitness Center. For more information, call 596.7444.

Following the fun run, the Piney Valley Golf Course is hosting a Red, White and Blue Golf Tournament. Shot gun is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with breakfast served at 8:30 a.m. The tournament is a two-person scramble and teams will tee off of red, white and blue tees. Each set of tees will be using different formats. If sufficient teams enter, different flights will be made to score. Tournament fees are $30 for Annual Green Fee Patrons and $35 for non-AGFP. Cost includes golf, green fees, cart, breakfast and gift certificates. This event is open to the public. For more information, call 329.4770.

The 4th of July Car Show will begin at 12 p.m. and continue until 7 p.m. on Gammon Field. For more information, call 596.0243.

Later in the afternoon, the Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation and Fort Leonard Wood will kick off the Annual MWR Independence Day Celebration, which is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. at Gammon Field. There will be various games and activities for the entire family to include military vehicle displays, horse shoes tournament, interactive games, watermelon eating and seed spitting contests, car show and more.

The 399th Army Rock Band, "The Woodchucks" and Trixie Delight will perform during the event. The Salute to the Union will begin at 7 p.m., followed by the 2012 U.S. Army Soldier Show at 7:30 p.m. — a 90-minute song-and-dance production. The theme this year mirror’s the Chief of Staff’s motto, which is "The strength of our Army is our Soldiers, the strength of our Soldiers is our Families, and that’s what makes us Army Strong." Following the completion of the Soldier Show, the area’s largest fireworks display will commence.

Concessions from various vendors and a variety of booths will be available. The event is free and open to the public and everyone is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the fun. No outside food, beverages, coolers or pets. For more information, call 596.6913.

GALENA - July 4, Fireworks display from the Y Bridge

HARRISON - July 4, Fire in the Sky, events begin at 9 a.m. Fireworks at dusk

HARTVILLE-GROVESPRING- July 1st, Celebration of Unity.  Event, held at Hartville City Park, will include food, live entertainment, and a fireworks display on the hill overlooking the lake.  Festivities kick of at 5:00pm.  The event is sponsored by 15 local churches.

HOLIDAY ISLAND - July 4 -- all events canceled.

HOLLISTER - July 4, Historic Downing St., dusk

JOPLIN - July 4, Landreth Park. The Celebration will begin at 3 p.m. with the opening of the food court. Various vendors will be selling funnel cakes, corn on the cob, ice cream, hamburgers, hotdogs, pizza, shaved ice, and many more carnival-fare food items to those attending.

Kicking off the event will be the Jake Clark Band performing the national anthem at the start of his concert. Several local artists will the follow this performance, including Duke Mason, Felonious Monk, and Big Smitty. The performance schedule will be as follows:

5:05-5:50 p.m. Jake Clark Band (Country)

6:05-6:50 p.m. Duke Mason

7:05-7:50 p.m. Felonious Monk (Blues and Classic Rock)

8:15-9:45 p.m. Big Smitty (Classic Rock)

All of these events will lead up to the biggest fireworks show in the area, put on by Liberty Pyrotechnics. The main event of the evening, the fireworks show, begins at 9:45 p.m.

The City will offer free trolley service from Joplin Memorial Hall (7th & Joplin Streets) to Landreth Park. Persons may park at the Hall parking lot and ride the trolley to the Park to enjoy the festivities without worrying about traffic and parking at the event. This service is being offered from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

LICKING -- The community fireworks display to be held at the LPH Church on July 4 is cancelled due to the dry weather.

LONG LANE  - July 4, at dark, Long Lane Lions Club; $8 BBQ dinner at 5 p.m.; free music show to follow

MACKS CREEK - July 4, City Park, events start at 7, fireworks after dark

MARIONVILLE - July 4, The Park, day-long activities including fireworks
