EUGENE, Ore. - Wallace Spearmon has another chance to prove himself on track and field's biggest stage.

The former Fayetteville (Ark.) High School and Arkansas Razorbacks sprinter Wallace Spearmon earned a spot on Team USA with his win in the 200 meters at the U.S. Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon Sunday.  Spearmon competed in the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

"I am going to worry about myself," said Spearmon.  "We’re going to figure out how to run faster."

Spearmon qualified for the finals with only the seventh fastest time.  He was fast when it counted.  He ran a wind-aided 19.82, charging from behind to win the automatic berth to the Olympics.

"That's definitely something that’s been on my mind for a while," said Spearmon.  "If I didn’t make the team this year that would have been on my mind for the rest of my life.  I don’t take my second chances lightly."

The former all-America at the University of Arkansas made Olympic headlines in the 2008 200 meters for the wrong reason.  He thought he had won bronze in the event, but instead was disqualified for running out of his lane.  Spearmon is ready for his next chance at world-record holder Usain Bolt of Jamaica.

"He likes to have fun, I like to have fun," said Spearmon on Bolt.  "In the card room, he was joking around and I chimed-in.  We’ve been friends ever since."

Sprinters Maurice Mitchell and Isiah Young will join Spearmon on Team USA's roster.

The games begin July 27 with the London games' opening ceremony.  The track and field portion of the Olympics does not start until August 3.  KY3 is the place to be to watch the biggest events of Olympic games.
