Marionville police officer fatally shoots man

MARIONVILLE, Mo. -- A Marionville police officer shot a man from Springfield who he says threatened him with a pair of scissors on Saturday evening.  The man died later from his wound.

Just before 6:30 p.m., Marionville Police received a call that a man was holding a woman against her will on Yorke Street.  When an officer arrived, he talked to the man before he says the man picked up a pair of scissors and threatened the officer.  The officer says he then drew his weapon and shot the man.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the shooting.  Troopers haven't released the shooting victim's name or the officer's name.   KY3 News learned the man who died was 37 years old.
