SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A used car dealership that sold cars with odometers turned back chose not to fight the Missouri Attorney General's Office this week. The attorney for Ashley Bolton and his Excel Auto Group agreed on Monday to a preliminary injunction that will keep that business closed until the attorney general's lawsuit against it is resolved.
The Attorney General's Office initially got a temporary restraining order against Excel on June 14. On Monday, a judge signed off on a preliminary injunction after attorneys for both sides agreeds. Now the attorneys are scheduled to return to court on Aug. 8 to set a date for the case to proceed. The Attorney General's Office is seeking a permanent injunction against Excel.
Bolton has also operated under the name B and B Motors. Since the lawsuit and a report by KY3 News, many people have discovered they bought cars with rolled-back odometers from Bolton or one of his companies.If you want to speak with someone locally contact the Department of Revenue.
