SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- City Utilities of Springfield says some conductor wires failed on Friday afternoon and left about 400 customers without power.  The outages affected people and businesses in southeast Springfield and outside the city.

A spokesman for the city-owned company estimated power would be restored by early evening.   The outage affected traffic signals in the Glenstone Avenue/Primrose Street area.  Police officers directed traffic at some of those intersections.  Some businesses also had to close.
