GALENA, Mo. -- A special prosecutor will handle the case of a Crane alderwoman who is accused of assaulting law enforcement officers.  Online court records show the Missouri attorney general's office is prosecuting Jessica White.

White is charged with assault and resisting arrest for an altercation with Stone County sheriff’s deputies that was recorded on video by a cellular telephone.

White's attorney says the video shows the officers using excessive force.  The deputies say White interfered with an arrest outside her home.  Deputies filed a defamation lawsuit against White and her attorney.
