FAIR GROVE, Mo --  The number of children diagnosed with autism continues to rise and people in Fair Grove are doing something to help.

One out of every 88 children has some form of autism. Fair Grove might be a small community, but they are taking big strides when it comes to solving the autism puzzle.

It's called Fair Grove Autism Day. People in the community are coming together to raise awareness and money.

There's a magazine called the Missouri Autism Report. It's published in the Ozarks.
This magazine is mailed to families all across the state dealing with autism. It's free. Publishers want to keep it free and are taking donations to cover printing fees.

Advocates say this magazine is a great way to communicate with the experts.
It keeps Missouri parents updated on the latest research, medications and events.

"We connect the educators, therapists and the parents. Everybody is getting to know where there is support and where there are therapies.  It has turned out to be a wonderful resource for the parents," said Dayna Busch, with the Missouri Autism Report.

Parents attending Fair Grove Autism Day say they can connect with other families going through the same struggles and triumphs.

"It's a real confusing time when your kid doesn't act like they are supposed to. It's hard for the Mom to deal with stuff like that.  You need the community the most," said Jean Dick, mother of son with autism.
